Hi Guys,

rode to work fine this am.

get on bike now, and wont start from starter, i get a click and a wurrrr, but not fire. , and then flat batt.

from kick, i get almost a turnover, but not much

i tested fuel supply, disconnected my fuel line and vacuum line from carb and sucked, and i get flow, and stop flow when stop suck.

i took the spark pluck cap off and kicked, and i get a red looking spark, Ive no other tools with me to remove plug to check the spark in the plug.

if my batt is totally dead, will this effect kick ?

my kick normally works after the first couple when my batt is low.

friday night and stuck ......

If it won't start with starting fluid, check the compression. Two strokes wear out, and one symptom of low compression is that it won't start or run.

You're gonna need to buy some basic tools or borrow some. A compression tool goes in the spark plug hole and shows the pressure as the engine turns over. See if you can get someone to loan you a battery out of their bike to try and get yours running, and get the bike somewhere where you can work on it.

Hi Guys,

so started first time when jump start off the car batt. batt must have just been completely flat. Thought it should have kicked though ?

the batt is odd, ive never seen it before ( owned et2 two years ! )

blue with yellow plugs things on it, am i supposed to fill it with acid ? i thought all modern batt were sealed.

That battery needs to be filled with distilled water up to the top line. Water will vent out of it over time, and that's what the tube is for.

I've never seen a blue and yellow color scheme but that doesn't mean much. Take it to a motorbike shop that sells acid and have them inspect. Since its 2 years old, you might want to buy a battery tender to help keep it going for a while longer.

Ps

I've had the scoot two years but it's 17 years old now a 1999 model

29 thousand miles

The batt was in when I got it might be much older than 2 years

Most batteries have a sticker that tells you what year it was made. I'd spring for a new one (sealed) they aren't that expensive IMHO. Ride needs to be dependable. If you don't ride it much or just do short trips, i'd get a battery tender to keep it charged like MJ said. I'm guessing it's a old battery. Good luck

WontStart/WontKick - resolved.
Hi Guys,

so i took a look at the batt, and behold, 3 of the cells were bone dry, the other 3 were half wet.

I bought some 1.99 euro halfords battery top up water, filled each cell to max level, and idled for 20 minutes.

My baby started ( from the button ! ) first time this am with no issues whatsoever !

Delighted and learned a few things !

Cheers all for the advise - this forum rocks.
