Hi, is it possible to remove the head / barrel of my ET 125 Leader engine while still in the frame or do I need to take the engine out of the frame.
Cheers,
Vaughan.

Possible yes but a pain in the a$se to work on, it'd be quicker to take the whole unit out, it's not that hard to be honest

It's not something that I would want to do without dropping the engine out of the frame, i would do a lot of maintenance with it in the frame like valve gap adjustment , spark plug change and variator/transmission work, but I think it's easier with the engine removed to work on the piston/cylinder

Can drop the motor on these in about 30 mins. Hardest part is figuring out how to support it without the motor.

Probably even less when you've done it a few times.

I use a trolley jack and wide piece of wood to lift just in front of the "swinging arm" bolt then unbolt the rear shock, the carb fittings to the air box, the fuel, lines, the spark plug cable, and anything else that's attached. then remove the swinging arm bolt and off you go.
