First post.... as Stepthru

I used to post here several years ago under another name... so I am familiar with a lot of things under the Piaggio corporate umbrella.

I just read the review of the 2016 MP3 500 over at Motorcycle.Com. I thought it was a pretty decent review. At the start of the article they mentioned the "1/4 of a brake type disc which holds the MP upright " Is this different from previous years? I always thought the lock mechanism was some sort hydraulic system and not related to a brake as such. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

There are two parts to the locking mechanism.

There is a mechanical lock on the tilting arms which is indeed a partial brake disk which is clamped by a mechanical calliper. Then to prevent the front suspension moving there is a hydraulic clamp on telescopic rods which operate in parallel to the spring/shock absorbers.

Thanks for the reply. Puts everything in perspective.
I'm contemplating a new MP3 500... I spent quite a bit of time on a 250 just after they came out and really enjoyed the ride despite it being somewhat low on power.
