My PX125 (with Malossi 166 top end) engine ate a chunk of piston ring which gouged chunks out of my rotary rad and scratched up my crank.
I've finally got the engine off, apart and fully stripped down. Cush drive is rattly so some springs have gone but everything else looks okay. Will be replacing all bearings, seals, cruciform, usual stuff..
I have decided to rebuild it with LML crankcases with the reed valve block and a 24/24 SI carb. Apparently the cases match up nicely with a Malossi 166 with only a little port matching required so I'll do that. I've a SIP road 2, I think it'll be a nice set up.

But I haven't got a clue about which crank to go for.
As it no longer has to form a 'seal' with the rotary pad I guess I have more options. I'm not looking for anything too exotic, just something reliable but which compliments the set up nicely. I've read lots of good things about the LML cases.. however, the LML cranks and bearings... not so much.

Any advice?

Please excuse my ignorance. I'm not particularly mechanically minded and have got this far researching, following advice, videos and Mark Paxton's excellent book. I'm learning fast!

the LML reed engines really can't breathe well enough to take advantage of the 24; i've found them to have jetting issues and not significantly more power than the 20 provides.

as far as crank, it really depends on what you are after.
