Why would anyone even think about bidding on a bike with no title?!?

What blithering idiot would even post such a thing? Damn dumb criminals.

Keep an open mind ....

It could be what it is ...

THis is my interpretation of how this deal is going down.....

The owner actually has a valid claim. His scooter goes down. He files a claim. The adjuster representing the insurance company sees the damage. The scooter is a write off as far as the insurance company thinks. The insurance company compensates the owner for the depreciated value. The 946 is written off as a total loss. The 946 loses its title. Whoever has the left over is selling the parts....

It all makes sense too me.

Just my .02$ ... again i have been wrong before

Going through the pics it looks like it was in a lake or something.
Great for someone to make a cool 946 sidecart out if it.

This looks odd.

They do get abandoned though sadly, even if there's nothing wrong with them. Though, odd for a model of this value, so I wouldn't trust this add.

There's a lx 50 sitting somewhere (not gonna advertise it to thieves) and has been for months. The inspection cover is missing and its slowly going green on the floor boards, poor thing.

Not even chained, wondering of its a bait bike but... Doesn't look like the usual bait.

Thinking of leaving a note, but worried about leaving something stating the bike has been left.

Looks like its just going to have to sit there and die

"Dropped on its side" wouldn't explain the paint damage on the floorboards, would it?

It's title was taken by the insurance company, and it now sports a salvage/parts only title. And instead of selling it like that, it is shown as a repairable scooter in relatively good nick, except the new owner won't be able to ever get a title for this beast.

If you need parts, other than the frame, it might be a good deal, but it's a salvage scooter that cannot be retitled.

Depends on the state you can get a marketable title in some states after repair and inspection but there should be some form of title even if marked salvage/unrepairable or other documentation if an insurance company totaled it.

Sorry, I think I meant to say "it will never have a clean title again"

Some states make the title "parts only", and those i imagine are hard to convert. Salvage titles are marked as such.

Usually when you total out a scooter or motorcycle, the insurance company takes possession of the lump and the title. The insurance company usually then sells the lump (with a parts only or salvage title) to a salvage/auction company that usually then sells off the lump.

Yes, I have seen bikes and scooters with salvage titles that look like they have very minor damage, but with the shop fees for repair it doesn't often take much to "total" a scooter.

Me? I'd prefer not to swim in the shallow end of the pool. Buyer beware.

Nothing suspicious about this listing.

No title, falsely advertised and for sale by non owner.

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh ye of little faith... Please check the seller's feedback before you leap to the worst possible conclusion. Almost 9 years on ebay. I may be woefully optimistic, but I imagine it would be hard to sell stolen vehicles for that long without someone mentioning it in the feedback.

Here's the key;

.SELLING FOR PARTS ONLY..
IT HAS ONE BROWN KEY
A TITLE CAN NOT BE GOTTEN
I DON'T HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE ...
IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF PAPERWORK

The bike was totaled and the insurance company lifted all the paperwork to do the payout. They let him keep the scooter since it was totaled to them and disposing of it was too much trouble.

I bought a headache like this and regretted it. The scooter ran fine but I ditched it after several trying battles with bureaucracy.

Well, it would be good for, um, parts. Like if you wanted to take it apart and sell the parts on MV or ebay or whatever.... or if you needed an engine.... but it's all that it's good for... parts.

Sorry, trying not to be a smart-ass here....
