Good day to you all,

First time posting to this forum, please bear with me. I recently purchased a 1991 PK 50 Plurimatic VA52T. Not sure why i did it but thought it was a good deal. Knowing parts were hard to find but not realizing parts are almost impossible to find. So my question to you guys: is it possible to replace with a different small frame motor with out extensive modifications? My goal was to make some sort of racer. Suggestions or ideas our more than welcome. Thanks for your time.

The slowest of all Vespa 50's. I have one and it's great for riding with the kid around the neighborhood but not for much else. The engine layout is totally different than the geared smallframes so switching engine won't be plug and play. Possible, but you'd be better off buying a geared smallframe to start with.

There was an 80cc kit being made by Pinasco, not sure if they still make them or not. But even that won't help much. I do a NOS Plurmatic engine case and other parts if you wanted to spend a lot of time and money for hardly any gain.

i's also worth noting that the plurimaic 80cc kit is informally known as the 'crank-snapper'

Thanks guys for the information. My current issue is I'm missing a few pully parts to get the engine running. I do like the design of the frame. I'll take some photos of the parts. Thanks again.

Shoot, I was gonna tell you about a parts bike on Deal o' the Day here https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2057239#2057239 that might help you, but looks like maybe you already found it?

I have a '91 PK50XL2 4speed w/ 70cc kit & 19 carb and I think it would do an honest 50 on the level when the Leo Vince pipe was still on it. Even the same color & a similar German market VIN plate, so I was hoping to steer a PK brother to a cheap(?) solution.

You can try http://www.kylesscootershop.com/ , I think he may have some of these automatics for parts and maybe try a free ad on ScootNet too. Best of luck, you may need it.

woof. i hope it was nearly free.

i *think* that year was the single pull shifter. if such is the case abandon all hope.

personally, if you're looking to turn it into a racer: ditch the headset and go with a P/PK or something custom, ditch the motor (some sucker that picked up the only other plur that's not busted might want it) and get something decent or a least a good building block.

then you get to start from square one...

better solution
Like he said, or might be easier w/ another scoot...

Tell you what, you can buy mine for what that one was listed for plus the ~100 euros I spent out of pocket on getting it sorted. Pretty good deal, but you have to pick it up or deal with the shipping

Matty5,

I am missing one of the rollers and probably need the pully assembly, I have most of the parts just not sure how it all goes back together. Can't seem to locate a diagram on how to put back together. Also need the fuse.
