My brother's in law, brother, was looking for a P200/PX200 to have it restored. After messaging a few club friends, I found a 1980 P200E for 200EUR with papers/plates. Previous owner was an 80 year old guy. He was ordered from his doctor, to not ride again, due to respiratory problems. We took it home, put on a clean carb I had around, fresh gas, new spark plug and the engine fired up on the first kick. The body needs a lot of work but the price didn't leave much hesitation. Even if it's totaled after sandblasting, I will still have a good engine and a lot of spare parts for my P200E...

OK, time for updates...
The P was taken apart, chassis went for sandblasting, engine was split and all parts from Piaggio have arrived. Waiting for SIP Tubeless, YSS socks and bits and pieces... The chassis had 2 rotten pieces that were cut and will be repaired... The most crazy thing I found on the engine, was the handmade carb gasket, cut from a magazine page... Photo bombing following... Engine and gasket... Chassis... Parts... Parts continue... |

Update...
Finished with the body work. Everything lines up, badges were test fitted, holes were closed. Tomorrow we will solder some corrosion scuffs on the floor and tunnel so as to avoid bondo and will get all the parts to the body shop for primer and paint... Forgot to mention that the chassis being worked, is a donor (with papers / plates) from a PX Arcobaleno, because the original chassis was really bad after sandblasting, needs lots of work and we have no time. The P needs to be ready till the 15th of September for a wedding... Photo bombing following... |

Very nice parts, can hardly wait to see the final product. I have the same edition tail light on my P125X.

The feeling you get, when the body arrives from the paint shop, is indescribable. When I got mine and started the assembly, I couldn't stop smiling...
Here's the album of my P's restoration... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1102530679761957.1073741833.100000151072376&type=1&l=b59064593d |

Update time....
Body and parts were painted today. The result is amazing, especially in the sun. The color is the BMW Individual San Marino Blue (paint code B51). Only the color costs 200EUR but it was worth it... Pictures don't do her justice... Tomorrow we are painting the silver parts (fork, hubs, etc.) and next week we will start assembling... |

After a few minor setbacks, we finally have her on her "feet".
Tomorrow, we'll mount the engine and finish up with the handlebars. Hopefully, we will have a test ride... Few photos... To be continued... |

Do they have vapor blasting in Greece? Seems to be the only thing that will not have a perfect finish. Scooter looks fantastic. That blue color is awesome!

Near me unfortunately no. Only thing close to vapor blasting I found was glass blasting but they asked 150EUR for the engine. I can't imagine how much they would ask me for vapor blasting...

That's so nice I'd be terrified to ride it. Possibly even sit on it. Definitely not work on it.

@blackhart: Consider it, as buying a new bike. Wouldn't you ride it??
As they say, this is the only time that is going to look as great as this. After a while, it will have scratches, dents, leaks, etc. But this is the fun of it. It's a machine. It is designed to serve as, not the other way around... |

The above post was tongue in cheek and totally complimentary, but true in this respect. I'd be terrified about YOUR scooter. I would ride it proudly and often if mine. I wouldn't want to be the one to claim the first ding on someone else's scooter. To me, the difference is the sweat equity, versus purchasing new. Either way, ride with pride.

outstanding rebuild. The color is fantastic. The mirror bracket thing that bridges the brackets does that cut down on mirror vibration? Congratulations on a fine restoration.

Yeah, it helps a lot. These "halos" (they have holes for mirrors and windscreen to be attached at the same time) and rear racks (foldable, like the ones from FA Italia), were made by a Greek factory back in the 80's and 90's until it closed. All Ps and PXs that sold in Greece had the same accessories. The "halo", the rear rack, and the plastic bumpers on the front and side fenders. All vespas were imported by dealers, because Piaggio didn't have an official "presence" in Greece back then. The "halos" are a bit hard to find nowadays but a few vespa shops, have a small stock...

Greetings from Athens your bike looks great - nice job you're doing with it. I also love the 'halos' around the headlite to mount the mirrors and have them on several bikes. I found 2 new ones in stock at one of the Poulous shops in Athens near Omonia and he said he could get more...
Here's a couple more random Greek bikes rocking the Halo, including a nice newer P w/ a custom kickstart. End of threadjack, sorry poor thing
