I bought a too cheap to be true Piaggio X9 500 2003.
It has the brown key only and it makes a very unusual pattern on the immobilizer light.
You can see it here: https://youtu.be/FaX78EwGp5M
I know that there is a X9 forum but it is not working now, so I want o ask you if someone has solved a problem like this.
The pattern is 1 long , 2 shorts, 1 long and then the light remains on. The starter motor works but the engine doesn't start.
I have read the post on the different lights patterns and this is different.
I hope you can help me. Thanks

The http://www.x9ownersclub.co.uk/forum/ is up and running OK.

A couple of things to check:

Ensure there is an RFID chip in the brown master key.

Ensure the kill-switch is in the 'Run' position. IIRC, the X9 kill-switch merely disables the fuel injection/spark bits, not the starter circuit.

The workshop manual is here:

Thanca jimc

I tried the x9 form but the moderator does not alaud me to enter yet.

I'm sure about the RFID, actualy if you remove it from the key, the immobilizer makes the correct patern as it should.

I have the manual, thanks.

The master key also gives a number of very short flashes which relate to the number of keys programmed into the ECU - two very short flashes indicate the master key and one service key have been programmed. However I don't know if this is the case when there's a fault, especially if the fault code is then a longer flash followed by ON, which would indicate the ECU wasn't programmed at all...

Hmm...

I found this PDF with all Vespa, Gilera and Piaggo immobiliser protocols:
http://www.modernscooters.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Immobilizer_Fault_Finding1.pdf
But non of them describes my problem.
I eve thought that it could be the tilt sensor, (i didn't know about it) but it seems fine.
