I wanted to add a bunch of images to a post. I wanted to upload them to the mv server, using attach, so the images didn't disappear over time. I also want the images to illustrate what I'm saying so I want to insert the images into the post like I would with a URL. Sadly it just seems to dump the all images at the bottom of the post and I can't see how to move them from there? What am I missing?

Look at the page source once you've made the post with attachments - then cut and paste the bits that relate to the images into the desired place.
It's a bit of a phaff, but doesn't take long. |

Depends on your browser. First add the pics as "attachments" and do a "Preview" to get the image(s) uploaded.
In Firefox, you would then right click on a given image in the Preview, then left click on "Copy Image Location". That would give you the url for embedding the image where you want it. Do a "preview" to check your work, and then delete the attachments and click submit. You could also start a new "temporary" topic specifically for uploading the images you want to embed as attachments. Do a "Preview" get the urls as noted above and paste them into the "real post". Do not submit the "temporary topic". Submit the "real post" with the embedded urls and do a "Just Walk Away" from the temporary one. |

I've dug around here too, the method Aviator describes above does work. But it does raise a peculiar issue, where we're advocating the use of deleted attachments for permanent hosting.
The fact that the method works means data attached to MV, even in temporary draft posts, is permanently stored on the MV server. Even if the post attachment is never publicly submitted, the attachment URL remains valid and publicly accessible. It seems that delete doesn't mean delete, and that data attached to MV is uploaded to the web permanently and is not removable by the owner. Wasn't there once an area in the user control panel that listed individual attachments? With the idea that users could selectively delete their uploads so as not to breach the old data limits? Perhaps users could have fully removed their data from there, and the option has been lost. |

The file comment can only be a certain number of characters long, and is always in italics.

Are you using Apple or Microsoft? I have Apple and i figured this way ,all by myself. First i save the pic in either document or downloads. When i want to add one of the pics to a reply i double click on the file box and it'll bring up either the downloads or documents folders. Just find my pic and click on it. Probably a weird way to do it but it works for me. They don't get erased either. I give each pic a name when i add it to the documents or download folders. Works for me.
