So I want to build a fast T5 engine but it seems that the options are limited for kits etc. What have you done to yours and how did it work out?

Don't do it. T5 engines rare as hens teeth.
Why don't you build a 200 engine and put it in frame? |

Most people just kit them and stick on an expansion. Makes for a fun and quick scoot and still reliable.
My 200 polini was definitely faster but not as much fun |

Oh no grinding out the cases too. No way back.
Well a malossi kit plus full circle crank, reeds ph carb around 30 to 32 mm and upgrade the flyweel side bearing. Exhaust of choice and depending if you want acceleration verse top speed either a stock cost clutch or 22 tooth one. And dare I say it grinding of the case's. |

I will be getting this one built by a scooter shop as I don't want to add it to my shelf of shame (the pile of cases I have destroyed over the last 4 years).
Thinking of pulling the motor apart this week and getting the cases vapour cleaned as they are hand painted black at the moment, then off to the shop for a build replacing all the bearings and any crush drive or gear parts, matching the cases to Worb5 Malossi Kit, Worb5 full circle crank and a reed block to take RD350 reeds and a 30mm carb. Not sure if along stroke crank will add anything ? Finish it off with a decent clutch BGM if the do one to fit , S and s exhaust and a vepatroic or picanso ignition. Aiming for a 20bhp motor. Ricky |

I'm not sure what bits you can get for the T5 engine, that's one of the reasons I suggested a 200 engine, as far as super tuning, it's a more conventional and tried path.
Funny you should say about paint, at the moment thinking about painting the 166 barrel and head black to get rid of the heat. One last thing again another long story, get the garage to check the clearance from the main bearing (clutch side on crank) to retaining circlip It may need a shim in there to close the gap. 2 engines of mine did and they not only had an age difference of about 20 years, one was a Spanish import. |

I just got to ride a T5 a few weeks ago(someone snuck it in the country from Canada). What a fast, fun scoot it was. If it were mine, I would not change a thing other than a pipe and maybe top end. Actually, I wouldn't do that either, I'd leave to hell alone and ride the wheels off it. But it"s your scoot.

T5 tuning
My T5 has a malossi sip 172 top end, worb5 crank , 24g carb using a polini Venturi kit all that breathes through a Taffspeed pipe. It's a thug

A long stroke crank in a T5 should be punishable by death. The short stroke is the whole point of a T5.

On my T5 is a Molasssi 172. It has a MMW head, expantion pipe, RD 350 reeds, series pro crank, vespatronic, full DRT close ratio transmission including the 37tooth 4th gear, 108mm DRT clutch (21 tooth for race, 23 for street), 39 mil Keihin carb. I picked all quality parts that work well with each other. It runs great, and is quick enough to run down to the grocery market and back before the milk has time to warm up.
