Ok guys I found a blue Stella with a twist shift that has a legit P-200 engine swap. The only problem is that it's siezed up, the reason why? He modified it and was still using the auto oiler on a kitted setup, therefore insufficient oil plus high speeds equals a hard sieze. He says I can take it for 500, I'm all for it but what's to be expected with the rebuild? A bore over obviously but would there be anything else I should be aware of. Thanks
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you got a great deal if you can wrench yourself. You should post in the not so modern section of the forum. That's where all the shifty types hang out. They will be able to help you get it going. Good luck.
If it was a hard seize, that is totally locked up, than yeah, you are looking at a new top end. Soft seize and you may be able to get away with cleaning up the bore, hone and new rings. Either way, the P200 engine is worth the price he is asking. If you don't go for it, put it up here so another member can get it. And as Matt suggested, post on the NSM side, you will get more responses. Good Luck.
I guess I really did not answer your question - duh. If something, anything, dropped down into the cylinder when it seized (circlip, needle bearing, piece of a ring) you will have to pull the engine apart to at least inspect the big end bearings, seals and rotary pad. But while you're there, you can do the cruciform, buffers, kickstart gear, etc... and start fresh. By the way, the autolube is pretty much a bulletproof feature of these scoots. The PO could have easily added a little oil to the gas.
