So my buddy is selling is Stella shifty. It has a px150 Vespa engine with a palini 177 carb. The problem is that it has a hard sieze, he's asking 500 for it. I have some know how BUT! Is the juice worth the squeeze? And what all would I have to do to fix it?

To be honest, if you had to replace the motor, you could take the cost of time, plus cost of motor and add it to the scooter price and if that is something you could afford give or take a hundred or two, you could take that money and buy a running one.

That being said, if you would like to buy it to fix it up then $500 sounds good to me.

If the only problem is the top end (plus whatever caused the seize) then it's probably not a bad deal.

If it's the crank, that's a whole other issue. Is it truly a PX150 engine, or is it the regular old LML 150 engine that came with the Stella?

You posted in another place that it was a P200 engine.... which is it?

I made the mistake of saying p200, it's a px150. I spoke to the previous owner.

And you're sure it's a PX150 engine, not the LML 150 that was original to Stella?

Get the engine number to verify.... though they're very similar, they're not the same.

I'm not trying to jump all over you with the questions, just want to make sure the guys here have the right info before offering advice.

Have to question why this would have a Vespa 150 engine in it? If the original motor was replaced and the second motor seized, run, who ever has this bike has treated it like shit

This!

If you buy it, assume you'll be either rebuilding the motor or buying a new one. Do you want to take on a project? If so, it's a good price. Do you want a running scooter to ride immediately? Then let this one go by. I like to always have a runner if I'm taking on a project. Otherwise, I'll rush the project to get back on the road.
