hey, I have a 2009 Piaggio fly 150 and recently done a gear oil change twice on it. At first the gear oil change I did, I filled up the gear oil to the middle and drove it for 30 something miles. I recently did some only searching and found it that there are different amount that people are saying. Some of the things I hear was to fill it to the dot, others I hear was to fill it to the first line, and the last thing I heard was to fill it to it to the second line. Please help I am very confused on where the max and min are for the gear oil on the stick. On the second gear oil change after the 30 mile ride I filled it to the point where it pasts the dot but not over the first line. Please advise on how much ml to put and where the gear oil should be when checking the dip stick

Last question could I have damaged the transmission by overfilling it and running only 30 miles on it

I just drain then measure out the correct amount and refill , If you have the owners manual it shows the correct level on dipstick which on my fly 125 was the first line and about 1/2 " up

Ok thanks. Would you know where I can get a 2009 Piaggio fly 150 owner manual. The owner I bought it from never gave it to me.

i stand corrected
Hi all
my workshop manual state's fly125 150 approximately 200cc But all other piaggio 12 inch wheel 125 150 approximately 150cc which is very confusing as they all share the same gearbox. A fly 100 has 80cc of gear oil The above are for 4t motors only. Cheers Andy. |

Its gonna be hard since I don't know where exactly the gear oil has to be on the dip stick

But the problem is that there are piaggio scooter/ vespa scooters that have the same engine and transmission but those that are 150 are taking 150cc of gear oil. Also is the 07 fly 150 the same specs and engine as the 09. I read the 07 manual, but I saw that the place to drain the gear oil on a 07 is right under the dip stick while my 09 is on the right needing a size 6 hex same side on the rim.

Same leader engine in fly from 2005 > 2012 , Gear oil drain plug in same place behind wheel
Yes some piaggio / Vespa scooters take different quantities of gear oil , That's why they specify the amount in the owners manual |

Ok so 200ml should be enough. Just wanna double check. Sorry I am very protective of my scooter since it is my only way of transportation from and to school. Also is it normal that you need to add a little throttle to start scooter from cold. Mine never started without adding little throttle. Also when ridding there is a small popping noise when decelerating.

Its carbed, so having to do a bit of throttle to get it started is normal. The small pops are also normal.

I know this is a super old thread but I'm going through the same thing on my 06 piaggio fly 150. It's apparently super hard to find information on the first generation piaggio fly. This thread and a scanned document of a service manual are all I can find. I went to change my hub gear oil today and I see you guys saying 200mL is correct? The service manual I found simply stated it should be filled to the bottom most notch on the dip stick. But 200mL brings me to the 2nd notch from the bottom. To make matters worse I measured 340mL that I drained out of it we've been riding this scooter for a year like that. I guess the previous owners shop of choice didn't service it correctly? I just want to be double sure 200mL is correct, it seems like it should be 100-150mL as that would put it at the first notch like the service manual states and that's what the similar leader engine Vespa calls for, no? I still can't believe I drained 340mL out of mine like what even...
