I like to use my phone as GPS, it would be nice if we could also charge our phones form the electrical system, has anyone seen a kit or done this themselves. I drive a S50 4V with 80cc Malossi head

Just go to a boat store and get a weatherproof 12 volt outlet and put it into the kneepad on the left side.

Wire directly to the battery with a fuse on the positive side near the battery. Then you can use a Battery Tender with a 12 plug to keep the battery topped off and conditioned when it is in the garage or shed. Serves double duty.

You could install a plug-in pigtail on your battery for a battery tender jr.

Run the plug end somewhere near your floorboards. I see on their site they offer a USB converter for it. Maybe that would be an easy way to charge a phone. Might take some figuring to run a USB cord but it's doable.

If you a.Re going to wire in a dedicated USB charger, be sure to power it off a lead that is switched by the ignition switch. Even when not charging anything, the charger will draw current. It may be a small current drain, but over time it could cause battery headaches.

Be forewarned, I have used the tender USB charger in the pet carrier and it does get very warm. Placing your phone into the pet carrier and having the tender charger at the same time could result in overheating your phone on a warm day.

I bought one of these, and wired it directly to the battery; with a fuse on the positive wire.

I routed it up into the area behind the left-side knee panel, and then snaked an iphone cable through the rubber grommet on the left side mirror. I use a RAM X-grip holder.
