Hey guys!I own a Bajaj Chetak 1997 model from past 1 year.Recently I am facing issues in using the rear brake. From past two days I literally have to press the brake pedal with full force so as to engage it.My mechanic says that it needs new brake shoes. However I had just changed the brake shoes at 32800km and it's still 33001.Do the brake shoes get eaten so fast??

If they are new brake shoes then I expect the rear brake cable needs adjusting.

Actually these shoes were taken out of a similar restored bike. The bike was restored and abandoned by the owner. My mechanic got it in scrap and he put these in my scoot.Though the shoes were new and I got it replaced right in front of me..I will take it to him tomorrow and see if adjustment works.

Also, make sure the new brake shoes are not contaminated with grease/oil because that will make them pretty useless!

Sure..!This time the brake shoes will be ordered brand new and not from any other scoot. Will also make sure it's free of contamination.

Just one more thing I would like to know..My scoot shifts easily from Neutral to 1-2-3 but never goes from 3rd to 4th.Though I never drove above 50kph.One fine day I tried going above that and the 4th gear doesn't engage I mean it's literally not budging a little bit into 4th.The control cables(all of them) were changed in 2012 and the scoots being weather protected all time though we didn't ride it from 2012 to mid-2015.Can someone throw light on this.
