All - I've noticed over the last few weeks that the Trip Odometer on my 2008 GTS resets automatically to zero somewhere between 375 and 400 miles.

I noticed this particularly when riding to AV in Memphis and it's rather annoying. I recall looking down and seeing it register 376 miles at one point and then a few miles later (maybe 5) it was ticking along at 2 miles.

Any ideas why this would be happening? And is there any easy fix (beyond cluster replacement).

Thanks.

Try what the help desk always starts with, unplug it. In this case just disconnect the battery for a few minutes then hook it back up. A reboot can't hurt.

Sometimes the rubber caps covering the set, select buttons are too tight, causing them to reset at random intervals. Try gently pulling up on them.

That sounds like the reliability I get from my fuel guage. I don't really trust the low fuel idiot lght, and can't trust the fuel guage so I've always lamented that I did not have a trip odometer. I've been using a grease pencil to write the last three digits from my odometer on my dial face. That worked great in cooler weather but has become very messy in the summer heat. Great globs of black wax deface my instrument panel. This week I found and purchased an old mileage counter that I can set at each fill up. I'm hoping it will fit just below the clock on my BV.

trip odometer reset
I don't have a trip meter on my bike so I use painters tape on the brake reservoir cap and a sharpie to log the reading at fill up. Works fine . Been doing this on several bikes for years.

I installed my mileage minder today. I had plans to mount in the center but protruded too far below the edge for my liking. I'm sure it will be nicer to use than my grease pencil but I'm embarrased about how much I spent for this thing. I probably paid less than a dollar for the last one I purchased almost 50 years ago.

My scooter doesn't come with a trip meter so I simply take a photo of the mileage at each fill up. When I return home I log the data on a spreadsheet to track mpg.

I'm using mine primarily to judged when I should start looking for gas.

No trip meter on my ride
Installing some sort would be good, if I could do it or get it done. I know the gas gauge is not accurate, but am using small notebook to record mileage, amount of gas purchased and what the fuel gauge indicates, and next month I have vacation so will ride it down to St. Louis for first oil change and try and get that fuel gauge replaced, it is under warranty. But I am used to a trip meter and miss having that. Any one have advice for installing 1 on a 2016 LXV 150ie? I do the servicing on my Rebel and some on my vehicles but am not comfortable with modern hi-tech computer chipped, smarter than me stuff.
