My turn signal beeper stopped beeping. Yes, it gets its ground via the brake light (to prevent lengthy annoyance at stop lights). Yes, the brake light bulb had just died. Now replaced.

If the turn signal beeper hadn't been wired like that I might have gone weeks without noticing.

So, in fact, that beeper serves double-duty...not bad!

Mine did too.
Actually it was reduced to a low growl.

When I de- mothballed the bike after a long winter hiatus, I noted that the turn sigs worked but the Sonalert was dead or dying.
When I dis-assembled the lot, I found that a spider wasp had built a nest in the grille of the device. It was filled with spider corpses, from her effort last autumn to allow her brood to over winter. I couldn't figure out how it got in there, until I noticed a drainage port in the underside of the rear fender.

Evicted the tenants and all was back to normal.

It's triple-duty really, as if the beeper doesn't fall silent when a brake lever is pulled, it means that brake lever's switch has decided to sulk.
