When i start to accelerate, i hear this sort of "grinding" noise coming from the left hand side it sounds like, right around 5-10 mph.
Any ideas what it could be? I have absolutely no mechanical skills whatsoever.

yep, this checks out
Your scooter is into thrasher metal. Look out for body odor, zits, long hair and band tee shirts that aren't allowed in the Wal Mart for "offensive imagery." There is no cure, but it's just a phase.

Really, really, don't bother with blowing it out or using Brakleen (evil stuff).
Just take off the transmission case (it only takes a few minutes, and you can make a clutch holding tool from a U-bolt) and give the clutch bell and clutch pads a good seeing-to with a kitchen scourer - Scotch-Brite or whatever. |
