Getting really sick of my trusty 2% mixing cup since most of my premix bikes are running 3% or 4%

Came up with a plan to make a better one. Ordered some thick walled 250ml bottles. Calibrated them for 3% on a US gal. Will burn marks at 0.1 increments.

Nice - I did something similar. I jetted my Stella so I could add 1oz per US gallon premix to augment the autolube simply because I want to. That's almost a 1% increase (actually .8%).

Since I use a 5 gal can of gas in the garage, I have a small plastic container that I scribed for 5oz oil for easy mixing. A permanent marker kept wearing off, had to use a dremel to scribe it and then swipe the scribe mark with the marker.

Do you have some aversion to just mixing at the gas station when you fill up?
I don't get why you make it so complicated for yourself. The "math" is pretty simple.

I considered getting a graduated cylinder or some other container with markings but to be quick and efficient there needs to be as little thinking at the pump as can be. it's the partial or uneven volumes that kill me on the road.

Example:
I can fit 1.75 gal, with a 2% cup I have to add:
measure to 1 gal, pour it in (this gives me 2% for 1 gal)
measure to .5 gal, pour it in (now I have 3% for 1 gal)
measure to .5 gal, pour it in (if I don't get lost this could have been combined with the last measure)
measure to .25 gal, pour it in (now I have 3% for 1.5 gal)
measure some random amount for the last .25 gal and get back on the road.

when I have two tanks to fill I get to do that twice.

When I use to just blip around town it was not so bad, as you figure out how much you can fit in when you go on reserve and don't fill till then. On longer trips where the gas is not at known distances it's harder.

Maybe it's just me that can't do simple math in my head, so instead I'll do it all ahead of time.

The Litre.
Awesomeist invention ever.

2% = 20ml per litre
3% = 30ml per litre

I use %2 in a couple bikes and %3 in the others..

If you fill the standard plastic mix cup up to the very top it's %3 on the nose.
(so you need to be careful with a full pour or it can get a tad messy)

What you've done is really handy though for partial gallons.

I find it easier do in the garage since I have a source for fuel with no ethanol; I use that for both my Triumph and 1% premix for the scoot.

Before you start to debate the benefits of no ethanol, just try and live with a 45 year old AMAL carb and the havoc to its idle circuit brought on by the fungus that grows in ethanol if it sits a bit. That's the dark colored stuff that collects outside your car's fuel cap. It's not dirt, its fungus and fuel stabilizer doesn't prevent it.

My bike & scoot both run great on no ethanol.

Yes, I know! I just can't get the gas stations in the US to see things my way.

Don't they make two stoke mixing cups with graduated measurements for 2% 3% 5% and how many gallons/litres used? I have one of those and never had a problem.

as for other 3% mixing cups, they exist but are all really big. There is the Ratio-Right, and BikeMaster (pictured). I bought the BikeMaster thinking it would be perfect, but it's not only too large, it has too many markings on it, and the markings are for fixed 1,2,5 gallon volumes.

The bottle I'll be adding markings to is 250ml and has a screw on cap to keep out the dirt and keep in any dripping oil.

It's not rocket science. Unless you want to make it that way.
Just put in an even gallon, or gallon and a half. I mean, are you gonna really
stop at a gas station for just 1/4 gallon?

But then again, I'm speaking as someone who drives in a city and has never ever had any issues with using the standard 2% (and/or oil injector).
