How about this: if Geo isn't able to post a new location by Sunday evening, then maybe Rex could post a new location on Monday?

Anxious bastards!
I spent yesterday afternoon at the track and today at the track, but luckily had the chance to snap the new (and highly anticipated) picture. And for heaven's sake, no cheating using Google Maps! ![]() Going to the chapel and I'm gonna get married...

Penguin... I have no idea where you are going with the train reference.
Rex... Besides the race track, I spent a lot of the weekend preparing for our baby, which is due next weekend. Shopping, cleaning, baby shower for mom, etc. I probably should have gone to MS Quin Rally today... |

I won't give the location away, but I will say it used to be a train station many years ago.
Were you on the rally today? |

HINT: As BadPenquin has pointed out, this location does have ties to Choo Choo Charlie. Not the Coaster, but it is 'coastal'. ![]() Many years before a Vespa graced its front steps...

Is that the Heaven's Gate house?
Actually, I know right where that picture is taken. Though, I don't think I'll be making it up to NoCo anytime soon on my GT. I guess a new coat of paint was applied to usher in the new owners? |

Yep, it used to be yellow. Ah, come on Geo, come on up to North County. It's kind of like tag and "capture the flag" all in one!

La Jolla United Methodist Church 6063 La Jolla Blvd.
http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/88spring/rr-lajolla.htm I was there this afternoon, but Len was there first. Good going, Len! |

FYI: The La Jolla Methodist Church building was formerly part of the La Jolla Hermosa train station, a stop on the San Diego Electric line. I think I also read that it formerly housed an electrical generation substation. There's some more interesting reading online at the San Diego Historical Society.
I had the picture composed in my mind every time I passed it on La Jolla Blvd. Just finally had the reason to shoot it! |

When I was there snapping the photo, I imagined some person across the street asking themselves why all of a sudden Vespa riders were taking a picture of their scooters in front of this building?

I wanted to go for a ride today, but ran out of time. If no one nabs it by Sunday, I'll go get it. (I hope the neighbors don't think I'm a paparazzo.)

Hey, Len. Any chance you can talk Patty and Matt into playing? It's soooo close, and who knows when it's going to be in North County again?

I couldn't agree with you more. I thought about limiting it to just greater San Diego but I'm all about sharing and playing fair. It's good that we have a huge area to cover with enthusiatic folks joining in on the fun!

Quote: I heard a rumor that it can go 20 miles past the county line is this true? For me, even going north of Solana Beach is impossible without planning a whole day around it. 20 miles over the county line is way too far. And that's coming from someone who lives on the far north side of the city (UTC). At that point, you might as well start a combined South OC/North SD thread, since they're having the same issue with north vs. south OC. I mean, I'm probably in the minority here and that's fine. But, as we saw with the B&B in Fallbrook, taking it up that far just slows things down since a majority of players are at least an hour's hard riding from there. Not to mention the fact the locations and local roads are less familiar. So, I would vote to set the boundary at one hour from a central point. (the harbor?) That way, the majority of people could hit the locations in an easy ride after work, rather than having the game sit idle all week until someone can take a day to ride out and tag it. |

Ian,
I'm fine with whatever rules the players want to adopt. My opinion is that one of the fun things about this game is riding to new places and seeing new things. You mentioned that you can't make it from UTC to Solana Beach (about 11 miles) without planning an entire day around it, that may be a little too restrictive to include many people. What do those of you who have been playing so far think about boundaries? I do think someone should have to get the newest pic, since Matt & Patty got the last one. Karen, Rex, Geo, what are your thoughts? |
