Well I was exaggerating about the Solana part. I originally wrote Oceanside, actually. But I know what you mean, and I admit I'm at the lower range of how far I'm willing to go.

I think I was just writing in response to the notion that we might go a further 20 miles outside the county. That just seems excessive to me. I mean, that last one was only in Fallbrook, and it would have been about an hour and a half to get there by back roads. And judging by how long it took for someone to finally tag it, I must not be the only one who wasn't willing to go out that far.

Overall, I'd say north county is fine if there's a big enough demand for it, but I can't be the only one who would like to see the game move a little faster. That can only happen if it doesn't take three solid hours out of your day. I'd like to see this be a race to the target, rather than a test of who gets a day off first.

I would like to cast my vote for keeping the game fairly loose. One reason is to keep more players in the game. When it was in North Park and La Jolla it didn't seem to go that fast, either. Well, not the lightning-fast two-hour turn around they had recently in SF. The only exception I can think of has been the all-too-easy Motorsports location. My fault.

Another reason I'd like to keep it county-wide is to learn about the area. I play OC tag because I used to live there and, at least so far, I recognize most of the locations. Plus, I can't resist a ride up the coast. I haven't lived in SD very long and this is helping me become more familiar with different neighborhoods. It was fun to learn about a new place to eat when I'm near downtown.

I was willing to ride to Ms. Spelling's B & B in Fallbrook. But when I heard the thunder this morning, I decided to stay under the covers. (Cudos to Matt and Patty for braving the elements.) I am willing to ride to the next location, too. (Thanks for including the "cactus" with the street number. I would have never been able to find it otherwise.) I don't mind if Patty gets it either. If the objective is have the game move fast, maybe that's a good option.

As far as the OC game, I don't think it's slow-moving because of geography. The sites have been pretty close to each other so far. Camp Pendelton, Dana Point Harbor, Newport's Balboa Island and Back Bay. Petrol moved it a little further north to Huntington Beach. I think part of the problem is there's only three of us playing. It's unclear to me how to engage other MVers (or even non-MVers). Any ideas?

Do you guys think we should revive Ritch's rule thread and hammer out what to do in SD and/or in every tag area?

We do need to reach out to other local scooterists. Maybe a posting on the bulletin board at Motorsport? I follow the Bay Area tag for the same reason... I used to live there. I'm envious of their rapid pace. I'm curious, how does one get from here to OC without the freeway or going via Elsinore and Ortega Hwy?

Don't worry, Ian. I didn't think your post was negative in any way. It's probably a good idea to find out what everybody thinks / wants to do. Like Len, I'd like to hear from some of the other players, too.

Pendleton - To ride on base, you need to wear boots, armored jacket, safety vest and a helmet. You also need a "sponsor". I was told that means anyone active-duty or retired in any branch of the service. I have driven north by entering the main gate at the far right lane. I tell the sentry I need a visitor's pass. He waives me through to the tented area on the right. After showing the soldier(s) my M1 license, registration, insurance and giving them my sponsor's name, the pass is issued, and I'm on my way. It's a nice slow ride - 35 mph mostly, some areas 15 mph. I think Len's group is planning a similar ride sometime soon. Check out their web site.

With regard to sponsors, does the sponsor need to be with you? I've got a buddy in the Army stationed in Kentucky, but no one local.

BTW I was joking and trying to get people excited about finding a new place. I guess it backfired. I am willing to go wherever as long as I know where I am going. I haven't known any of the places except the last and this one.

Karen it was pouring and in some places even hailed on us. It was fun though.

I'm willing to make the trek up to North County to get some of the more remote locations. I don't really want to do it twice a week, but I'm still willing to do it. Like I said to Rex earlier, it might even be a way to get a little group ride in. I think if one of us from the downtown area wants to go get one in North County they should post that they are going to get it and maybe make a litttle group ride out of it. It'd make the long trek a lot more fun that way. So long as there are enough north county riders up there to keep the game moving when the locations are up there I think we should keep the rules the same.

The 'rules propositions' posts are making me sick! Holy cow...all the damn rules we already have in this overly-regulated day and age... and we need rules on how to play a photo game?

I see it as easily as this: post a picture, any picture in the San Diego county and general outlying areas. If no one knows it/wants to drive to it, then within a few days you have given hints and no one is biting. Then we get a new picture by agreement of the posters.
No one is forced into driving too far for their comfort level or performance level of their machine. This is a game kids - it is supposed to be fun. I don't see North County folks purposingly taking photos so far off the beaten path that no one gets them or that kill the game. Where is the fun in that? Let North County have the flag for a while... it will be captured and brought south or east again. It's open to any and everybody within their personal limits.

Now, here is what I want in return: I want to click on this thread and see pictures - not rules!!! Ahhh!!!!

I know EXACTLY where that picture is taken. In fact, it is Kurt's favorite bridge each time we drive out that way...he always makes of point of telling me.
Here is the rub: I leave for Europe day after tomorrow. While participating in scooter tag is high on the list of my personal goals... I don't think I'm gonna be able to squeeze it in before I go!

OK, so I have a rough route I can take. If you North County guys don't get it by then, I'll leave tomorrow at 2:30 PM from downtown to go grab it. If anyone wants to come along for the ride let me know.
