After tomorrow, Deputy Hugh can saddle up and ride off into the sunset to grab my next tag.... Well maybe not, because the place I'm thinking of is in the East. So it's saddle up and ride into the sunrise!

The way to move a tag along is to get out and ride to it, Hugh. After +/- 55 years, isn't it time to move beyond Hillcrest and Coronado and see more of this lovely area?! Don't be afraid ~ get out and ride.

Ok... I just sat down with my Garmin software and Google Earth to come up with a couple hints.

From the picture in this post, looking 90 degrees to the East, you can see the Salton Sea about 33 miles away. With Google Earth you can match up those roads next to the red marker pointing East.

Today you could possibly hit snow on the way to this point if you are heading East. Snow may, or may not be at this location since it's altitude is at 2325ft. The town down below is at about 600ft above sea level.

An MP3 should be able to do that round trip without much of a problem. The location that I took the picture from is about 80-85 miles from downtown San Diego. Plenty of call boxes and other places to stop if you need to rest or call for help.

GO GO GO!

Fixed that for ya, Hugh

This tag gets a 9 out of 10 in my book - well-paved road with little traffic, some curves but not too technical, beautifully scenic, plenty of rest stops (if needed), nice folks to talk with at the destination, etc. Plus the weather was nearly perfect for scooting yesterday. One point deduction for the little bit of wind and the mile or so when temps dipped into the high 40s.
I hope those of you who are not afraid to venture beyond your neighborhood will consider this route when you have some free time. Totally worth it!

You know... I appreciate all of the "riders" on here but the last few tags have been a little out of reach for those of us on smaller displacement machines. I know exactly where that next tag is, but would take me about 2 hours to get there from North Park the previous... I wouldn't attempt unless on a group ride.

I guess what I am really saying is that when you are doing tags... please try and mix it up with some urban stuff for the guys who don't ride a 250+.
Thanks,
tater

Was that the same trip one of your club mates decided her new GT would look better if it had a high speed intimate relationship with a rock? Razz emoticon

It's more of a matter of time. I can get to these places on either the P or the S but, it takes much longer and well, I like to do things like ride to the Roller Derby with the Bastards...

I don't think you have to worry about Gitta peeing in anyone's beer... that would be a waste of perfectly good beer. Now what she would do to my food... that's a different story.

Nope, it was the same trip that DaBinChe rode from San Jose to Lake Tahoe on his Met 50. So, yeah. Cryin' that your bike is under 250cc will not engender sympathy (at least not in me).
Don't fret, tater. The game is in your neighborhood a LOT. I'm sure it will be again soon.

Hello, I appreciate your sentiments whole-heartedly, and I think that some San Diegians ought to see into your situation. Even though I drive a 250ie MP3, I 2 would like to see about San Diego tags, and since we have so many drivers on now, we need to consider marking territories, North and south county.

I know I will get flak from this, but my 2 cents worth.

After taking a quick look at 38 pages of posts.... It looks like at least 75% of the tags are South of the 52 and West of the 67. Also it looks like the rules were hashed out on the first 5 or 6 pages of the game to include all of San Diego County, not just North Park and Hillcrest. So if it leaves your area, it will come back! Even if you have a small bike, it's still fun to take long rides. I forgot who it was, but it looks like a couple members with 125cc and 150cc's have rocked the county pretty good. They have set an example that it can be done!

grscum:

I think at this juncture, since we have more scooter riders on MV in San Diego County that we decide to split the county up!

Lets see if we could have two tag limits for San Diego County,
1) No. Cty San Diego, and So. Cty San Diego.

this way we wont have much to BITCH ABOUT!

But, the ? remains, where do we have the divide line. I truely believe this would be more fruitful and much more fun.

+ Plus we still have the San Diego Fanatic & friends, RBSC, and the others that have taken off quite well for the rally rides together, which we have in the past, rides of all the scooters makes riding the surface roads much better.

my 2 cents worth.

Shall we VOTE of this and make it clear, the past beginning of the scooter tags and San Diego County, are greatly increased riders.

Wow...let's overcomplicate this and wash all the "fun" and challenge out of it. It'll be like a Government program then!
