I don't know if the Poll function is still up or not, but if the people want to vote, then it should be done.

Then there is the drama of figuring out how to breakup the tag areas, such as:

1) All of San Diego County
2) San Diego City
3) Northpark
4) Hillcrest
5) North County
6) South County
7) East County
8) West County
9) Little Italy
10) Little Africa
11) China Town
12) Retirement communities
13) Trailer parks
14) Coastal areas
15) Desert areas
16) Mountain areas
17) Gaslamp
18) Downtown
19) Ghetto
20) 5 mile radius from Motorsport Scooters
21) Sea level to 600ft
22) 600ft to 5000ft
23) Roads with speed limits up to 45mph
24) No more that 20 miles from the previous tag
25) Use a list of pre-approved tags from a list?

Orange County, Riverside, and LA don't need multiple regions, then why do we?

that was a fun ride! a very longgg one, but fun!! round trip was about 150 miles. I took the 15 to get there and the backroads to get home.

I've had a scooter for only about 8 months now, but I've seen parts of SD county that I hadn't in the previous 20 years. in part because of rides, but equally because of scooter tag. maybe I'm just not getting the point of the game, but I thought it was essentially an excuse to get our and ride and enjoy the experience.

super hard tags aren't much fun because one doesn't often have a chance of success. super easy ones aren't bad though. when the objective is known, there's more incentive to get out and tag it before everyone else does...

I never knew how vast San Diego's back country was. there were stretches of the road that reminded me of rural Virgina. others were like forested roads in northern california.

if a tag is too far or hard to get to, or if you don't know where it is, wait for someone else to get it. most likely the next one will be one you can snag. you can dwell on your revenge tag... maybe your third grade teacher's favorite laundry mat? surely nobody will get that one.. bwahahaha

I'll try to find a good new tag tomorrow.

where in the city can you get views like these??

Several of the people who ride with our group enjoy playing this game, and in our view this game is not about taking a picture. It's about riding and seeing areas of the county you haven't seen before. If you don't want to ride more than 5 miles from your own house, that's fine, but stop whining about it.

The rules were set when mostly San Diego players were playing, and back then there were sometimes weeks going by with no one getting a tag. Even now a week will go by when no one from San Diego proper will go out and get a tag, and this is inevitably when someone from North County will swoop down and pick it up.

If you don't like the tag being in North County, you have two options. 1. Get the tag and bring it back to San Diego, and keep it too active for the north county people to snag it, or 2. sit that one out and wait until it comes back to San Diego, which it inevitably will.

What about East County? Are you going to complain when the tag goes to Campo? It's one of the most beautiful parts of the county, and well worth seeing. How about Chula Vista, do they need their own tag?

Scooter tag needs a critical mass of players to stay active. It was broadened so that the game would stay fresh. If it's not near you today, it will be soon, and when it is please jump in and grab the tag. But the carping and whining is taking the fun out of a great game.

One other thing. Work as a team...if you have a smaller cc bike, and want to play but don't feel confident riding 50 miles to get a tag, email a friend with a bigger bike who likes the challenge, and get them to bring the tag back local to you. Then when it's there, get off your duff and get the tag!!

Mmehren, your post has completely captured the intended spirit of the game, congrats, and good riding!

Pardon me for interrupting, but would it not simply be best to start a new thread titled with something like North San Diego County? Lay the boundaries out in the opening thread and introduce a picture. At that point whomever chooses to join in the thread would know the tags remain in the given area.

Being that I live in AL, I have no scoot in the fight. I enjoy seeing all of the pictures you guys put up and if another thread opens, I get to see more pictures of your marvelous area.

I think some of us are of the opinion that that very thing is contrary to the spirit of the game. For instance, the ratio of north County people, to South county people is skewed. Then there's East County and metro San Diego. Of course the coastal communities want a voice...as does the high country.

I knew you'd understand!

I love the area out there. San Diego is beautiful and I'm simply envious of the range of vistas available to you in one area. So being selfish the more pictures the better for me, but I do understand.

okay.. it's within San Diego, but off the beaten path.
that is the bridge in the background and if you could zoom in, you'd see a street sign that says 26th.

I wanted to go to a place in the south bay, but access to it was closed when I got there. I cruised around for quite a while on little backstreets, etc... I saw this tree and thought it was pretty cool. the picture doesn't do the foliage justice.

if more hints are needed, I'll add them.

can we take a poll of who is actually playing, where they are in SD, and what size scoot they are on?

I would rather not partition the city, but if there are enough people actually participating, maybe it makes sense?

I don't know how to do the "poll" thing in this forum.

No polling needed. As has been repeatedly stated, this thread is county-wide. ScooterGirlinAL is right: start a new thread if you want to set your own boundary, rules, whatever. Besides, people who bitch, whine, snivel and moan are adept at finding reasons to do so. There's no point in making changes to accommodate them. Having said that, I'm really enjoying the creativity y'all are using to split the county up. Laughing emoticon

On to the lovely coral tree near a bridge - I have no idea where that is. Today should be a great day to find out.

I was about to turn on Google Earth and figure it out when grscum let the cat out of the bag.

With your clue of it being near 26th street, I figured it was either adjacent to Harbor Drive, or down in National City near the waterfront.

I was a good tag spot, because I've never seen that tree before.

A fast moving game with easier to find tags will get more people into the game.

I think at this juncture, since we have more scooter riders on MV in San Diego County that we decide to split the county up!

Lets see if we could have two tag limits for San Diego County,
1) No. Cty San Diego, and So. Cty San Diego.

this way we wont have much to BITCH ABOUT!

But, the ? remains, where do we have the divide line. I truely believe this would be more fruitful and much more fun.

+ Plus we still have the San Diego Fanatic & friends, RBSC, and the others that have taken off quite well for the rally rides together, which we have in the past, rides of all the scooters makes riding the surface roads much better.

my 2 cents worth.

Hillcrest

Shall we VOTE of this and make it clear, the past beginning of the scooter tags and San Diego County, are greatly increased riders.
Wow...let's overcomplicate this and wash all the "fun" and challenge out of it. It'll be like a Government program then!
well gosh, i see you are in Temecula, and I am in Hillcrest. I would not venture up there unless I was planning a trip to Palm Springs to see relatives, or be it a sponsored ride with one of the groups.

My 2 cents worth.

Well, I guess that's your loss.

Many people from there travel up here, and vice versa regularly in the pursuit of scooter enjoyment. I have ridden my (former) Et-4 to Mission Bay from here, as has my wife, she has also ridden her Buddy 125 here from there.

Another MV member KS7877 has ridden all over creation in the pursuit of scooter enjoyment, and grabbed more than a few "tags" in the process. Grscum, lensmith, modernelitist, to name just a few others who travel far and wide to "play". To many, I think the prize is the ride, not the photo.

You have to travel how/when/far YOU fell comfortable doing so...thats for sure. But the "scooter-tag" game is just that a game...meant to promote scooter riding and exploration based on individual tastes and skills. The pictures are secondary.

If you don't want to venture out of your comfort zone, don't. But why limit the "game" to others that want to make the effort, enjoy the trip, and MAYBE grab the tags wherever in the agreed-to geography that they may be?

Some people play Pinochle in the park for r&r, some people base-jump...personal preference.

<-- comes in the thread, swinging elbows.

Alright peeps - it was discussed and agreed early in this game that SD County is SD County - and those are the wide reaching limits.
You can't/don't/won't ride to a tag? Then you aren't playing that round. No big whoop. Catch one nearer you if that is your limit - keep watching the thread and enjoying some of the others who are posting great tag places. Geez. Enjoy the spirit of it, at least.

Tater, I'm ashamed of you. How did your beer taste Saturday? Expensive?

The 'rules propositions' posts are making me sick! Holy cow...all the damn rules we already have in this overly-regulated day and age... and we need rules on how to play a photo game?

I see it as easily as this: post a picture, any picture in the San Diego county and general outlying areas. If no one knows it/wants to drive to it, then within a few days you have given hints and no one is biting. Then we get a new picture by agreement of the posters.
No one is forced into driving too far for their comfort level or performance level of their machine. This is a game kids - it is supposed to be fun. I don't see North County folks purposingly taking photos so far off the beaten path that no one gets them or that kill the game. Where is the fun in that? Let North County have the flag for a while... it will be captured and brought south or east again. It's open to any and everybody within their personal limits.

Now, here is what I want in return: I want to click on this thread and see pictures - not rules!!! Ahhh!!!!
Oh snap - looks like big mouth me is in repetition mode, except this post is from 8/27/2007!

Why are you ashamed of me? All I did was ask to mix it up a bit not stop doing distance tags all together. geez. And look I got what I asked for with the last couple of tags. Too bad I was out riding with a bunch of bastards...

And yes my beer tasted very expensive and pee free. Razz emoticon

<---

I re-read my posts, and man - I sound like a Royal Bitch instead of a Royal Bastard. I apologize.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled game.
