I will try to get it tomorrow if I can. The signature is because my name is John Hopkins, and over my 65 years, approximately 3,453 people have said "oh, like the Hospital", to which I have answered "no, that's John
s Hopkins". Some riding friends last year dubbed me "Not the Hospital" and I liked the sound of it.

I'm less than 2 miles away from Earl's tag. Sleep in, and Happy New Year.

If you ride to the tag site before me, you are one dedicated rider, not in the hospital.

Good to have you back in the game, KS.

Ran into Earl and his son at the tag spot above. Since I lived closer, this 'win' is by the hair of my chinny chin chin...

Sorry, DR, not a "win" - yet
The Carlsbad windmill was posted by me on Jan 04, 2008 and tagged by awfulshot Jan 07, 2008 in a beautiful sunset photo. It's worth going back to take a look (page 16).

Got a back-up?

[sidenotes - A) thanks for the welcome back and 2) yep, nearly new gt60 all shiny and purty thanks to Len. Hope to have the GTS back from Motorsports when the fuel &/or electrical (?) issues are sorted.]

Backup? sure do:

new tag...

Side note: KS, having not lived through the 5+ years of this thread, I rely on the search function of this site, which I ignored in my recent excitement of photographing new scooter tag locales. Here's hoping my tag below isn't a re-tread!

I'm not sure if search will always be your friend. Most of the time one of old-timers will chime in if it's a duplicate tag. The only one that I noticed get by without comment was the USS Recruit at Liberty Station. It was first posted years ago by Corinthian and tagged by VP1 (I think).

Anyway, I don't recognize your colorful mural. Not from playing tag and not even from cruising around SD. Great photo, by the way.

Some of the more wiley tag players have, as of late, resorted to extensive online Google image searching versus other more pedestrian means, ie: riding around the city after receiving hints. Since noone of that group has chimed in or tagged this photo, I offer you a hint:

This location is within a stone's throw of one of my last few successful tag replies. It is a neighborhood rife with wall murals, especially in alleys or small side streets.

good luck!

My wife and I were on our way to the SD Scooter Squadron meetup today - and passed by the mural. My wife noticed, and we did a quick u-turn. Corner of North Park Way and Ray:

You leave me no choice.
...I have only two pix of my scoot where it could be a recognizable location that haven't been used in either of the tag games I'm playing. I *could* use the other game's tags here, but that feels wrong.

So. Good luck - shouldn't be hard. Here's my scoot and a random elf I picked up somewhere.

We may need to consider instituting a statute of limitations. With few exceptions, none of the current taggers have been playing for more than a year. Items tagged several years ago may need to become fair game again.

Or, another solution could be requiring everyone to read all of the pages of this thread to ensure no duplication. I am (albeit quite slowly) trying to get previous tags onto our zee map.

One fear I have is that targets will become increasingly obscure to the point of frustration.

Open to debate.

recycle old tags?
I dunno. For me, having a new place to ride / explore / photograph is pat of what keeps the game interesting. But, I see your point about how it can get pretty obscure. (Although, we have had our share of lame, errr, obscure tags in the past.)

Maybe we could have another "Taggers Breakfast" and talk about it? If nothing else, it's a good excuse to eat and ride. 8)

Brilliant!
I'm all in favor for having a get together that involves food, friends, and a scoot. Maybe we will ride around the boundaries of the tag game... Though that could be a pretty long day and a few hundred miles.

Anyone active and interested in doing something should chime in. Maybe meet in in the middle of the county so the North County crew that used to steal the game could participate? I thought of it as a sort of capture the flag when the game moved north, south, or east.

Maybe a weekend brunch and ride in January or February? Also, I do have more scooter tag patches for anyone interested.

I will continue to add tags to the map. I'll focus on some of the older ones.

I looked on-line for something related to the upcoming Chinese New Year. I was nearly at the selected historic site when I saw this mural. Since 2012 is the year of the dragon, I figured this tag was meant to be.

Hi Len! Yep, she's running great thanks to Motorsport's mechanical genius, Jeff. But she's still not as pretty as The Grey Lady.

The chinese style streetlamps in photos others took of that mural gave it away. Chinese new year celebration is next weekend, I believe.

Hints: Like Jhop's 'all county fire' wall mural tag, this one mural is related in subject matter to the business hosting the mural. Not in North Park, either.

Hello,

I have moments ago tried to view my tag post whilst not logged into the site, using Internet Esploder, Chrome, and Firefox. I do see my tag photo. Cookies have been eradicated, too.

Can anyone else see my photo? Len, can you post more details on browser, OS, etc?

This mural was painted by retired Navy SEAL Pete Carolan. He also has one at the next tag location. You'll see it if you go inside. You may also see Prince Harry. (sign altered to make it a tiny bit more challenging)

Nice one KS. Curious, did you know the Firemen Mural tag using my initial set of clues, or the one I left Sunday? or perhaps just the visual clues withing the photo itself?

Just trying to figure out how much is too much when offering hints for tag shots...

As far as how much is too much - seems to me that you're doing just fine. If folks want more info they (we) usually ask. Happy Scooting!

I recognized the facade from my many evenings of drinking with a Coronado local at that location. Having to wait for the weekend for the shot was not fun, but at least Mother Nature let up on the rain in time for my first tag shot on my 2-stroke. MMMMmmmm... McP's burgers. Yum.

Hi modkuo and welcome to MV and to Scooter Tag.
DirtyRAT is right about posting a photo along with identifying the location. Is that something you can do, say, in the next couple of days or so? If not, I can probably get it on the way home on Sunday.
Hope to see you out and about on your scooter.
