Yay! Looks like "grab the flag" is back with a north (way north) county tag
I can get it on the way home from Riverside on Friday. Unless we can get a group together to ride up on Saturday. Any taggers up for a meet and eat?

I would really like to do a meet and eat, but this weekend I will be out of town. Hopefully can do in the future.

This one's 'yours' KS. I'm taking my Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes this weekend. Yay. Otherwise I would do a meet-greet-ride!

Since our fine city has so many military installations, I'd not be sure how to answer your question with certainty [I'm not sure what would qualify as an 'installation' ]

Thanks for the kudos: I like photo more than some of my previous tags, if just for the photo composition.

What I can say to leave more clues:

Anyone taking the Motorcycle safety Foundation classes would have driven right by this location to reach the class location.

doesn't narrow it down too much - afaik, MSF classes are all over: Chula Vista, Camp Pendelton, San Marcos, etc.

I'm not for sure, but pretty sure it's the one in Chula Vista.

FYI: Military doesn't give a shit about trolleys. It's civilian. But if I'm wrong, I'm going to be laughing at the navy or the marine corps.

Once again, it seems the essence of this tag game is yet again lost with this last post.

The point of the game is NOT to post obvious clues/answers but, rather, to get onto one's scooter and grab the photo tag with a winning, successfully identifited photograph.

@ KS: a few casual clicks around the MSF website, inquiring about local courses, would lead one to a more precise location of my clue.

I can add one more clue: electric rail

Hi Shinganist. Welcome to scooter tag and to MV.

C'mon, DirtyRAT, I don't think the spirit of the game is in peril. Seems like Shinganist is just a little, ummm, let's say 'enthusiastic'. I have some time to ride later in the week. I'll click around as you suggested and see if i can find it before I head south.

Anyone else want to try to beat me to it?

KS Thank you for the welcome And I hope I didn't put the game in too much peril. It's just, I made "a few casual clicks" before he mentioned it, also did a lot of ground level google map at locations. Didn't see the spot, and thought I'd somewhat help save someone a good day of riding only to not find the location. Well, depending from the riders start point...

@DR My apologies. I'm new to the forum and have never played scooter tag.

Thanks for the clues guys. Googling Chula Vista electric rail lead me to the National City Depot. This historic Santa Fe station was built in 1882 and remains in its original location. It is the oldest railroad-related structure still standing in San Diego County, was beautifully restored, and is a now a museum. I was lucky that was open when I rode down on Sunday (yay). Plus, the weather was perfect!

I love a tag with a clue in the pic!
I've ridden most of the streets in La Jolla more than once and I never been here: Ohm garden at the intersection of Draper and Granvilla. I especially like the Radio Flyer wagon planted with nasturtiums. (The sign on the bottom says "You are here" and shows the longitude, latitude and elevation. What a great clue!)

The response(s) you get may vary, depending on the tag and who's answering. It's clearly the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center. I vote it's a good tag. Go ahead and post the next one, modkuo.

Thanks KS. just want to make sure I am keeping with the program, as I see that the O.G. members are sticklers to the format.

Is it preferred that we immediately post another pic or is it OK to have a couple days in between? I guess it would be wise to build an arsenal of tag shots...I will get some interesting locales and bank them for future play.

I have some great photos from SD, back around '82-'86 of local gathering spots, scooter rallies and such that would make some pretty cool throwback tags. Lots of teens in skinny ties, parkas and pointy shoes scootin' around town.

True, but different folks are sticklers for different things: some don't like pre-maturely given clues, some don't like to go too far from downtown (or wherever their home base is), some want a scenic ride (or challenging ride or easy ride...), some want to be challenged in deciphering the location, some (like me) like a google-able clue in the pic. I also prefer a not-yet-tagged site while others are more flexible. I guess my point is you can't please everyone. Do what you like and folks who have an opinion will chime in.
modkuo wrote:

Here again, opinions may vary. I like it when the tagger posts up a new pic right away. But we've waited for more than a month before, too. For me, the game bogs down and players (both new and old) lose interest if there's a delay.

That sounds awesome! I'm relatively new to SD and would love to see how neighboorhoods (and fashion trends) have changed. The rules (using that term loosley) say the photo should be current. I take that to mean one shouldn't post, for example, a springtime photo of Julian as a mid-January tag. Snow might be obscuring whatever landmark is in the shot. If an 80's photo can be replicated today, I vote you go for it. As always, other opinions are welcome.
