Hi all,

just purchased a scoot, Vespa 250 GTS (i think) 2007, does it have a carb or fuel injection, AND can you tell me what to look out for / and need to do to keep it going

Many many thanks

Lift the seat, remove the bucket under it and take a pic of the top of the engine. Or, when you turn the key on, does it whine for a sec and stop?

If it is in fact a 2007 GTS 250, then it is fuel injected.

The 2007 GTS was (IMHO) a very good year. It was made after the initial bugs were worked out with the burning exhaust donut, and before the bean counters got their way by purchasing defective Chinese fuel pumps.

If the original inexpensive Sava tires are still installed, you definitely want to replace them.

If you need to replace the battery, be aware that the terminals on the 2007 are in the opposite position of previous models. Do NOT try to stretch the cables to make the wrong battery fit.

If the rear wheel has never been removed, it will be difficult due to a thin layer of rust on the hub.

Make sure that the antifreeze and brake fluid are fresh, in accordance with the maintenance instructions.

Keep the scoot dry, drive it normally, and it should last a very long time.

Cheers,
Bob

The 250 was the first fuel injected scooter in the Vespa line. Yano over here has one and it's got around 41,000 miles on it. My carbed LX 150 has over 38,500 and i'm catching up. Good solid scooter IMHO. Got any pics? Hers is gray.

Take it off that sidestand!
I hope you don't always leave your scoot in the side stand. Its prone to popping up and causing your scoot to fall over.

Nice scoot though

Thanks for the pic. Sweet scooter. I use my SS all the time and have never had it fall over. Had my LX for 9yrs and almost 39,000 miles on him so i do know what i'm talking about. However if there are people that i don't know milling about near it ,i put it on the center stand. Idiots abound over here. Make sure you lock it up good over there. Theft is rampant. Have fun riding him or her. 8)
