Just got back on a scooter thanks to my children getting me a PX125E for my 50th👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Now I've been using it since end of June and in the beginning the fuel warning light did its flickering to warn of low fuel all normal.
This happened again on Friday morning so filled up unfortunately the seat slammed down and I cand get it open (no locks or keys on seat just a sprung lever) this may be part of the issue or just coincidence but as I rode away the orange light came on and stayed on.

From the get go the fuel gauge hasn't worked so I'll get round to that fix later.

Any help much appreciated thanks in advance 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The seat may be cocked slightly off. Push the spring lever in and wiggle the seat side to side. Hopefully that will release the seat off the post. Check the bolts on the front of the seat that adjust the alignment on the post and make sure they are secure/adjust as necessary.

As far as the fuel sensor, it should be a float in the tank thats sticking. Get a wire hanger and bend it into a tool to try and pop it free.

I had this happen on a PK. Turned out to be a small hole in the float so it was full of gas & no longer floated. Once you get the seat open, the whole float/sensor ass'y should unscrew w/ a quarter turn.

Sorted seat Spring lever was loose and therefore not allowing locking plate to be pulled far enough back.

Turned out that a wire had come loose possibly triggered but seat slamming down.

Petrol gauge is my next job Crying or Very sad emoticon Crying or Very sad emoticon Crying or Very sad emoticon Crying or Very sad emoticon

Thanks for your help guys

you don't really need a fuel gauge to be honest.

Don't the bikes with fuel gauges lack a fuel tap with a reserve? I'd want to have one or the other, otherwise you'd better carry a can of fuel with you everywhere you go.

That's a good point, I don't know if they have a fuel tap.

My 2006 PX 150 with fuel gauge and warning light does not have a "Reserve" position on the tap. Just "Open" and "Closed".

You may just have hit a major nail on the head......

I thought that looking from the front wheel back towards the seat pillar the tap straight up was on, left reserve and right off. When I have had the tap in any other position than left the scooter has sputtered and given every sign that it's running out of fuel. It has had the oil tank taken out of the loop as there was a problem so it's a mix job at the pump which I sort of prefer if I'm honest.

Fuel warning light works a treat now and I will test it with a dip rod to check the range v amount left but I will definitely sort the fuel gauge out now and ride with peace of mind I HOPE LOL..

If your tap is like mine, it'll have 2 positions "A" and "C" and no reserve position at straight up.

In case you're wondering...

A = aperto (open)
C = chiuso (closed)

I've thought about changing out the tap with an old style 3-position one to get a reserve back, but nothing's broke yet so haven't bothered.

When I first got my p125x I didn't know much about it and the fuel tap was on R. I rode it around and it ran out of gas. Now I know what the tap places mean. Now I put mine is the C position when I'm not using it for more than a day. Then put it straight up for driving. Haven't had to use the R yet.

I'm ignorant. Do the no reserve, fuel gauge type taps have the same 180 degee range of motion as the three position types? I've seen pictures that seem to show that the short tube pointed up from the tap that prevents draining the tank in the ON position is not installed in the two position type taps.

Will the two-position taps drain the tank/allow the engine to run with the fuel lever halfway between? A three position tap with the short tube removed will behave as an ON/OFF tap.

Just curious.

The no reserve tap does not have the short tube, which is the "Open" tube on a tap with "Reserve". It does have a 180 degree throw, with, looking from the front, 9 o'clock as "Open" and 3 o'clock as "Closed". I've never tried to run with the lever in the vertical position, so I can't answer that question. Could very well be it's the same assy as the tap with "Reserve", but without the short tube.
