Hey everyone,

Its a long story. Bought a p125x a few months ago and the guy started it for me at the shop. I get it home and 3 days later it wont start.

Cleaned the carb and did a carb kit, emptied all the gas out of the tank, replaced the fuel line. Still wont start. I took it out to a rally and they managed to push start it but it still wouldnt kick. I took off the flywheel (1st time) and found out it was on there pretty loose. The key that was in it was not a snug fit in the keyway. We fitted a new key (tight fitting) and it came loose and sheared off 2 keys. I replaced the washer under the flywheel bolt and it hasnt loosened or sheared a key since. Also we replaced the flywheel with an identical one because by now there was damage to the keyway in the flywheel.

Still wouldnt start by push or kick. We retarded the timing once a little bit and got it to kick but then it wouldnt start this sheared a key (one of the 2). I put the timing back after changed the washer and it wouldnt kickstart but i push started it. It died after 45 seconds.

The compression tested at 90 to 100 by the 3rd kick. So we figured it might be compression related. I came into an inexpensive very lightly used DR180 kit that we installed yesterday.

I also replaced the spark plug wire, points, and plug. Getting good spark. It still wont kick start but it will push start every time and when i slow down it dies. It wont idle. Its kind of rough. I havent tweaked the timing as i was told to leave the timing stock for the first 300 miles. Also i switched to a 116 main jet from 100. Its running rough and has a vibration to it. Any help appreciated.

Is the air box screwed tightly to the engine cases? Under the carb is a gasket and one screw which holds the box on. Make sure that's snug. Then pull the exhaust off the cylinder so there's a little gap in the manifold. Does the bike run better without it? Exhaust might be junk.

The last time it kicked over and ran the exhaust was off. Then we killed it and put the exhaust back on and it wouldnt start. Ill try that in the morning.

I dropped the exhaust and it still wouldn't kick start. Didn't try to push it. It got away from me and i hurt myself last time. I've checked about everything. Must be carb related. I got strong spark. I've got good compression (new top end). I think i might buy a 24/24 SI carb from SIP.
