Hi everyone!

Newbie here from north Georgia. I just purchased my first scoot - a 2008 GTS250. Love it!

The only question I have so far though, is that the speedometer is very "jumpy" while riding. It does reflect an accurate speed, but any bump sends it hopping. I've seen a few posts mention this... But no way to fix it. Any pointers? Do I just deal with it?

Thanks!!

New here also
I have no baseline for measure except that my Honda Metro also did that and the new Vespa LXV seems inclined that way, tire running speedometer cable looses contact with ground for a moment would be my guess. Others probably have better input as they have more experience with Vespas than I do.

Vespa speedometers seem to be a hit-or-miss proposition. My LX speedo is "lazy," in that it'll register speed when it's damn good and ready to. Also, it has a hard time getting back to zero.

I've cleaned the cable, lubed it, reinstalled it -- twice -- and it's just something I've accepted.

My scooter is, in fact, going 10 mph sitting in my garage!

Mine's a little jumpy. Not enough to bother me. Somebody will be along that knows more or has fixed the problem.
In the meantime, welcome to the forum!

Thanks everyone!

If I need to just accept it, I certainly will. The only comparison I have is with a Honda Shadow I rode about 5 years ago. This has a LOT more play in it that the Honda, but it's not causing a problem.

Appreciate the advice

Welcome! My speedometer actually seems to work very well, but I have a BV 250... Hope yours gets 'better' - enjoy the ride & safe travels!
