Oh man, I hope that holds up. Looks like the damage was already done before when it was slipping and if the corks can hang on shouldn't get much worse. One and a half more days.... C'mon Gonzo! & all the shifties!
Here's me getting ready for the run to Mukilteo tomorrow. ![]() yep, small world, slipping clutch when I was kick starting it

Good luck to #58 and all the others.
From the first post : "Also the crankcase oil is very dark every day he is changing it." What, other than a burning clutch, could case this ? |

ooh man, that thing looks toasted. I'm glad you got the parts to him to get rebuilt. Takes some big stones to go cross country.

Be proud!
![]() Looks like six* shifties entered and five finished. One near the top and one poor guy dead last. If only I could have been that guy, simply making the run part of the way would have made me tingle. Even later too, when I could just think about it. * maybe five and a half, number 15 w/ TnG motor? |

Had he not spent 3 days on the trailer he could have won it. He won most days he rode save for one or two.

Muchas Gracias MV-NSM
SUCCESS!!
Thank you all for sharing your wealth of knowledge in my quest to get the Green Fairy back on the road. With your support and parts, I was able to overcome my failure to remember the most basic part of maintaining a vehicle: lubrication. Had I adhered to a daily regiment of a gear oil change, topping off the 2T oil, and checking the tires for proper inflation and lug snugness, I truly believe I would've left the TnG crowd in the dust. coulda woulda shoulda I am now prepping for the 2018 run and will make damn sure that I am not the weakest link the next time I commute coast to coast. In gratitude to all who posted comments, suggestions, encouragement, and general scooter savoir faire, I invite any who visit New Orleans to ride one of my vintage Vespas during your stay. Just give me a heads-up so I can make sure they're in top running shape. |
