I'm re-cabling a P200 and thanks to all of the posts here it has been a breeze so far. Thanks!! However, I am having a heck of a time with the throttle cable. It seems that the length is too short. Once I get it threaded into the throttle pulley, through the plastic "top hat" etc... it is not long enough for the little "nubbin" to reach the slot it is supposed to fit in to pull the slide open. In fact I can just barely see the end of it entering the carb box.

I measured the original inner and it measured about 68 inches total length, the new cable measured about 66.5. I had another cable kit, so I measured that one, 66.5. I then thought to measure an old one that is still in a frame waiting to be painted. THis one I just measured the length of the inner cable protruding from the outer and it matches the shorter ones. I'm thinking that the original one stretched out almost an inch and I am doing something wrong. I've rechecked the routing through the headset and onto the pulley, and everything I can think of, searched the forum for this same problem to no avail. Anyone run into this? Any obvious thing I am probably doing wrong as it's my first time?

Friend of ours had this same issue with his P. Has something to do with autolube versus non-autolube throttles I think. The inner you have is long enough - it's the outer housing that's too long. Shortening the outer where it enters the carb box will allow the inner to protrude farther and give you enough to reach the slide hook. Measure twice, cut once!

Ah! That will fix it. Cutting the outer will be tricky as the ends are fixed on the inner... I'll try it on the old one first.

Thanks!
