I bought a nice Koso CHT for the Smallstate after the third cheap-o Runleader senior failed. Finding a good screw-in sensor CHT has gotten really hard, btw
Anyways, I bought it for like $80, so not cheap, but not much more than a trailtech at this point. It showed up, I was super-excoted to install it...and the LCD has a bunch of dead pixels. So I called up Koso. They had me send pictures, and now it's headed back for a warranty replacement. All shipping on my dime, of course. So...I still recommend Koso, even if their warranty support leaves something to be desired. ![]() How TF does QA miss that???

I've bought from AircraftSpruce before and agree they're a good option, but most of their stuff is really designed for an airplane instrument panel.
For GPS speedo's, I have this unit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BS7F5HH on my VBB and Smallstate and it works well. You'll want to get an antenna with a shorter lead, though. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RW7R8KH/ and mounted it on the rearview mirror stalk. You'd never even notice it if you weren't looking. ![]() |

Although Modern, yesterday I had a friend's ECU reverginized (used GTS, no master key), new keys programmed to it and today I put everything back. The guy I have does it for 80€...
I also matched the new keys to his top case tumbler so he has one key for all. I hate doing it, it's a PITA job (if anyone has ever opened up a tumbler knows what I'm talking about)... Few pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've never re-keyed a wafer lock, but with a regular pin lock, it's not big deal...IF you have the specialized tools.

I love rekeying those locks, even put a kit together for it to keep all the extra parts in order. At one time I had made a chart you could lay the key on to read off the wafer numbers, but trial and error is almost as fast.

Slipped out for a bit of wrench time this evening after nearly two weeks of shit show management at work.
To riff on James Brown, Beo's got a brand new rad. Install went suspiciously well, but we filled the system with distilled water and sorta burped it through the thermostat bypass. No leaks, so I filled the carb bowl from the test bottle, connected the fuel system and fired it up. Ran decently and took about eight minutes to come up to temp. Died once, but that's because it used up the 30mL of fuel in the carb bowl right before the pumped fuel arrived from the tank. Fuel gauge works and the temp gauge slowly rose before settling on the line below the halfway mark. When we shut it down, the radiator was just starting to get warm. Marvel smoke stopped coming out of the tailpipe too! Found and fixed a janky taillight connection. Aside from the do-nothing button next to the starter, I think it's time to reinstall the bodywork and start road testing it. ![]() Fresh radiator

Over the last 2 weeks I built new book shelves for my two kids. The one they have is a POS from ikea. It's like the leaning tower of Pisa currently. So I got some real actual wood and made 2 new shelves for them. Just gotta trim the back plywood and paint them now.

Yesterday, I helped out another local scooterist get his Stella's carb set up. He has a 2005 that he bought a few months ago that was too lean with a PX exhaust replacing the cat exhaust, plus it still had all the filters, so it couldn't breathe enough to rev out.
We got the jetting where it needed to be, got rid of the underseat filter, and it's now running better than ever. Then, about the time we finished that up, Eley came by and we wound up swapping his Stella's clutch from a 21 to a 22, partly because the gearing is too short with the BGM and partly because his clutch has never been quite right since the rebuild. Then, this morning, I picked up his old clutch to set it aside on my workbench and heard it rattle. I shook it and there was definitely something inside it. When I put the compressor on it to disassmble the clutch to see what was in there, what looks like the top of a rivet fell out! Either way, Eley now has a little bit longer clutch and we finally got to the bottom of why his rebuilt clutch was sometimes jerky. So win-win all around, and it was beautiful weather to boot. ![]() It's about 1/8" in diameter
