I'll likely install the knock sensor on my smallframe first.
It can detect detonation before you can hear it, and it can also keep me from chasing sounds that I may think are deto, but have a completely different source.

I like this and have wondered if it would work. Is there a way you can temporarily set things up to force it to knock just for testing?

Great for the science. Sure it will work.
I would use a sacrificial engine for the testing. The detonation damage gets pretty bad, pretty quicky. |

So this is a new one… helping fix a PX.
I had ridden this bike before and it was, well, slow… Port timing, squish, ignition timing all had not been set. Ever… so I'll have a crack at trying to set everything so it resembles a tuned Vespa. Lo and behold… a Reed valve… on top of a working rotary valve… You don't see that everyday.

My mom passed away at the end of the summer and I have been emptying out her house this week. Closing for the house is 3/6. Had to have her car towed as it would not start. The truck driver couldn't start it either and confirmed what I suspected; bad starter/solenoid ground. We have another driver coming up in the family so it will be appreciated. Hoping to wrap everything up by the end of the week.

Sorry to hear the news of your mother, Orwell. It's a kick in the gut then going thru her stuff makes it hurt more. Been there with my mother and quite recently with a one of my younger brothers. Be at peace if you can.

Orwell, my condolences for your loss. I agree with the sentiment of focusing on the good memories.
Losing parents stinks, because you know they're holding stories and wisdom that we don't always get to cherish. I'd lost both my parents by my early 40s and nobody left knows the song they first danced to at their wedding. |

If anyone happens to find themselves fiddling with a CT-90 and fits the Dr. ATV "performance" cam, save yourself a headache and either sacrifice a #31 drill bit or turn down a .120" (3.05mm) spark advancer pin; 7mm length is plenty.
The stock 3.0mm x 5.3mm pin won't stay put, even with a dab of Loctite 680. Now it revs to where my buddy runs out of moxie before the points float or the main jet runs out. Back to the V9A, then. |

Had my px out for about 25 miles as a readiness check for rides of March. I love that thing, I'm so glad it didn't sell and I ended up with the Malossi kit on it! It's somehow way more fun than my p200 was, though I can't really explain it.

I alluded to this project in August, but after my uncle and his kids recent visit, I decided to pull the trigger and get a donor Seeburg TCC-1 (Tormat Control Center) unit to rebuild so that their '63 LPC-1 cam play B-sides again.
It arrived in the mail yesterday and it's possibly a little worse off than the one in the jukebox. After a quick dusting and inspection, I tested power. It's showing some sign of life, which is a relief. Going to R&R this one and fit it with new capacitors and tubes. The plan is to take it along on my next visit (assuming the TSA doesn't freak out) and swap it into the jukebox. I've got six months, so I'll save it for once the V9A is running. ![]() Mostly dead means slightly alive.
