Your faith in me in my progress is completely unfounded! The double or nothing ham bet deadline is The pitching staffs reporting for spring training. (Note – all ham bets revolve around baseball milestones.)

I did fix the pressure testing equipment last night… so hopefully this afternoon I can get back out to the garage and finish testing the cases. We will see…. 😁

The VMC Sprint Tourer exhaust I got for my PK project came with thin 2mm brackets that I don't think will hold much. I had a friend cut me two 5mm ones on his waterjet and then bend them. He also cut me two plates for the inlet so I can make a 30mm manifold for the Polini PWK I plan on using...

Much more robust good to have friends with a water jet.

Surprisingly the pile is not much bigger, ok maybe a bit bigger; but the pile keeps evolving into new and different shapes and colors.

Funny enough, I already passed on one of these new projects to another MV'r; Roliver. Unplanned when I loaded up, but happy to move one pile into good hands. He is one of my best friends, and now he has a new to him 1963 GL 150. Win-Win-Win.

I get the greatest satisfaction from rescuing these awesome machines from neglect, and putting them in appreciative hands who will care for them as they should be. Not bad for a days work.

I will never again restore another car after I finish my VW bus, but would still enjoy restoring scooters. I would have to sell them or build them for friends. I have 2 roadworthy scooters and 1 left to restore. I plan on keeping all 3, but even at 2, it's hard to find time to ride both.

Good man. It about killed me to pass along my minty P200 some months ago, but the person it went to is a great guy, so it softened the blow. We have already planned on visiting him in Charleston next summer so we can ride scoots around the city once my back fusion is complete.

I understand this all too well. I've had alot(ALOT) of scooters pass through my hands. I've kept only a fraction of what I've found. The thrill of the hunt, the pounce and capture; and the potential they have are thrilling. The process is exciting, but in reality I only have so much time, effort, and money. So my personal keep pile is not too huge. Keep it tight and keep it right

Thanks, GL. It's been 10 weeks since surgery, doing all the PT, see a PT guy once a week and have a doctor's appointment coming up in January with an X-ray to see how the fusion is working. Next summer, I should be able to ride again, but it's going to on a scoot with E-start. No more kicky.

I got to speak to a back specialist years ago, that came out of retirement because he was getting bored. He taught me some very valuable lessons, like don't use my back as an engine lift.

Back issues are no joke. My Dad has fought it for years, with a similar path to recovery. He's all good now, but had a rough few years at one point. No one here will judge you for leaving kickstart in the past. Do what You gotta do to stay on 2 wheels and feel that joy

Leading a little tour of southeastern Arizona with a couple of friends. Overnighting in Bisbee. Put about 270 miles on ol' Scabby today and nothing's fallen off. Still hitting 75mph (120kph) even with the CVT and clutching tweaks. Still not a fan of big hills, though. It's alright for a beater.

Tomorrow is more ghost towns, a lake in the mountains and lots more twisty bits of road.

We don't have ghost towns in Tennessee, just abandoned trailers and old meth labs, and those don't make for much of a tour.

Just came across this interesting FB post. Pretty sure Patrick oopsclunkthud has pointed out this carb some time in the past but I had never seen one running before. Looks a bit cool.
Video on the product page (Yoshimura link) shows fascinating atomisation, not sure exactly how they achieve it unless it's a hollow "needle"?

I think that may be a little too downdraft for even the YD24. the Yoshimura
YD has a downdraft of 55° when the float is level. I was thinking it could fit well facing backward.

Yes once I'd seen the carb by itself I did wonder how he could lay it over even further. No doubt that it runs but the fuel bowl would surely be only half full at best.

He did mention that it was Chinese. Love that spray pattern on the original though.

Just rolled in after about a 520 mile weekend. Ol' Scabby ran well over, despite not liking hills much. A local took us for the a backroad tour of Bisbee after breakfast and some of those streets are hella steep. That was the only time that the temp needle went over the halfway mark.

Bit of magic happened this morning on the run from Bisbee back to Tombstone. We wanted to grab a group photo with a mural and I wanted to take them down Charleston Road over to Sierra Vista. We hit a great bit of asphalt about four miles south of Tombstone and there were no winds. Morning temps were still in the 40F range and air density was good. The throttle was more responsive than usual (so I think the main is a point too big) so I decided to roll it open and send it. Scabby kept accelerating through 120, then 130 and even140kph, finally flirting with 145kph (90mph). It was pretty damn magical to pull away from a topped-out X MAX on a beater with 110ccs less displacement. Four miles of magic.

Couldn't traverse Fort Huachuca because someone in the party was banned from entering. D'oh! The wine county loop around Elgin and Sonoita was still good. Lunch at Velvet Elvis Pizza in Patagonia. Rounded it out with Pendleton Road and Mission Road back down into Tucson Metro.

Good times in all. Perhaps we'll do it again next year.

if I was going to us one on a 2T I think I'd start with a Chinese knock off. The hollow needle is more prone to clogging and being able to use normal needles would make it easier.

Slow but steady progress. An hour or so most evenings. Just about done with the filler work on the last of the big flat panels.

I have figured out a way to cobble together a small enclosure for painting in sections. I have a lot more time for this kind of thing during the winter so I will just have to work around less than ideal conditions rather than wait for them.

At this pace, I think I have a good chance of getting it all in paint before spring. Not something I thought possible, but I'm kinda in a groove.
