I made my own, which may not have worked as well as the fancy store-bought ones, but the price was right. Other than that, I just live without the tunnel bridge or those inner screws.

Apparently, you can just get regular clip nuts that will work, too, if you have a well-stocked Ace Hardware near you.

Roger that and your bike is so CLEAN! We are getting to that point now. I plan to flip to flip the bike upside down to make it easier(? if such a word can be used on a Lambretta ?) and remove the brake assembly, gas tank, wiring and any other misc stuff BEFORE we remove the headset & fork - much like I've done with many Vespas. Big difference though is w/ Lambretta, you probably need to remove the motor FIRST.

After my father retired he continued working / servicing at home with everything garden / wood related machines - tools. A friend of his has a shop but no service so he always supplies him with jobs. Today we assembled 8 new trimmers for his shop...

Also, it was my turn to cook. I made a traditional Greek beef stew (Kokkinisto), slow cooked in tomato sauce, herbs and red wine. We usually accompany it with Macaroni Pastitsio No.2 (Bucatini) but I made Tubetti pasta. And as a side dish, slow roasted potatoes...

Today I tried to pull the crank through the bearing on the clutch side in the exact same way that Robot does on his video's. His goes right in, mine gauls and gets stuck and marks the bearing surface. Same crank and same bearing. This is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Polished the groove and now it's in the freezer.

We just finished up disassembling Lambretta and I kicked back for a late lunch and scrolling thru whatever YouTube wants me to see, and up popped this GEM. If you like scooters and ppl who know what to do, and wanna learn more about these ridiculous marvelous machines - you click the link and settle back w/ your lunch.

Double post from my Lambitter thread, but you ALL gonna like this bloke.

1000 miles to France for some kinda LammyFest on the old tires? He's got brass ones!

I love Team Pacemker.

He does the "self-imposed-too-tight-deadline build" combined with his riding to & from the rally misadventures every time. They're all phenomenal.

I'm consistently amazed at how many spare parts the Lammy guys carry with them (and end up needing) on their extended rides. And stuff you wouldn't really expect, like, "Luckily, my mate Roger had a spare chaincase cover with him, so after an hour of wrenching in the middle of a downpour, we were back on the road!"

Truly a man after my own heart.

Dropped the bus off at a well known VW garage for ball joints. At least 2 have torn boots. One of the few things I have decided to farm out to lighten my load.

Wanted to be further along with the painting but weather has been uncooperative, so caught up on some welding. Finished the filler work on the 1/4 panel. Rolled on some epoxy primer and threw the door back on. Brakes are awesome now.
Forgot how small split busses are.

Hopefully I won't be rockin' this primer 5 years from now. Wouldn't be the first time. But better than staying home.

Let's not get all crazy talkin' here!

On the good news front, though, the ignition is sorted. The flywheel wasn't making good contact with the crank, so once the woodruff key sheared, the flywheel spun until it could no longer ignite. It also wasn't quite seated, I think, so causing intermittent misses.

I coated both surfaces with machinist's blue and found the high spot, then ground it down and threw it on to test, no woodruff key just in case it wanted to shear again.

Turned out to be 17 BTDC at 8k RPM's, so I just made sure it was torqued to spec and am gonna run it that way.

The new pipe needs bungs before I install it, but I'm pretty stoked to see what it does.i need to order more AFR bungs, but hopefully that will happen this weekend.

It's an alias. He's from Luxembourg and owns the shop next door to Scooter Mercato.

He builds some next-level motors. Truly custom work like rotax'es, water-cooled, etc., but is also a first rate Vespa & Lambretta mechanic. Dude's a badass.

Nursing a hangover and a heap of disappointment.

Sat at the airport for 5 hours yesterday waiting on a flight to Minneapolis for the Midwest Classic. They eventually offered to route me through Chicago putting me into MSP at like 11pm. (Would have gotten me to the rally hotel at 1am-ish…. Making a 14 hour travel day.) I reluctantly opted for a refund and headed home. Very bummed. #thanksunited

I usually put my helmet on the floorboards but I don't know why I didn't. Maybe subconsciously to keep people from sitting on it? A few looked like they wanted to!

Even on the floorboards ...
I prefer the handlebar ánd the lever through the chin strap.

Indeed hard to understand why people cannot look with just their éyes.
With the Vespa it is especially women who want a photo taken while sitting on it.
We try discourage by parking the scoots/bikes too close together but in the end you just need to let it go.

Next weekend there is a new event. Some VIPs coming, television etc. and the organiser asked us to exhibit some vehicles. It will be Friday - Sunday and to make it worse, cannot collect the scoot on Sunday. Fingers x-ed and zénnnnn....

Worked on a friends scooter today.

His brake light wasn't functioning or his side light...

Replaced the switch on the on the hydraulic and a couple of crappy connections at the tail light.

Then set about sorting the headlight out....

Yeah, I agree. And I was thinking the radiator lines could've been hidden a bit better. Cudos for doing this though!
Every time I saw that kickstart I wondered how he would handle it... wasn't expecting that!

I guess it's possible the radiators could be mostly hidden by a glove box with a perforated lid. Even though it definitely lacked WDC's finesse, still a cool project.

I agree, a very cool project. The Kickstarter though is whacked. Maybe an extended and detachable one?

Still - pretty awesome!

I just came across this really interesting video, and instantly thought of whodatschrome.

Only I think he would do it much better.

Thought it was working out nicely until the very last shot! Crying or Very sad emoticon

i've watched that video multiple times over. That guy definitely had mad skills and creativity to pull that whole project off! As both a Vespa and KTM fan, i fully approve. The engine looks like it's from the 2008-16 generation power plant. The SX models didn't come with the magical E starter. Undoubtably the SX models are less expensive to buy, but the XC-W and XC models came with electric starters. I probably would have purposely searched out one of those E start models instead and just removed the kick start lever. The 250 is going to be super sweet, but you can very easily swap on a 300cc kit (along with a 300 CDI) for extra grunt. The only problem is that the 300's vibrated quite a bit more than the 250's. The cream of the crop ktm engine swaps would be a 2017-2019 300. That generation engine had a counterbalancer inside it. The engine was also still carbureted, so the fuel system would be simple to hook up (ktm the switched to TPI after that).

I wish i had the tooling to build one off projects like that.

There's a certain orange colored lammy down in california that also has a ktm 300 engine in it. Frank Sanderson was commissioned to build it- https://www.lambrettainnovation.co.uk/past-projects-and-completed-scooters/item/206-craig-bachlers-electric-start-ktm-300-exc-s6

Craig ended up selling it for a song not too long after he received it from Frank. If i knew he was going to be selling it, i most likely would have figured out a plan to buy it. It did go to a good home though.

I haven't seen a final final build of the scooter, so there stands a good chance that the guy might still tweak a few more things before painting...possibly run the radiator lines inside the tunnel? Whatever the case, his build is still amazing! It's well above my pay grade.
