Slow but steady progress. Almost ready for epoxy.
Filler work done, engine hatch sandblasted and a couple small patches welded up on the backside.
Some rust on the bottom of the window frame. Welded up pitted areas and ready for blasting.
Cab door is next. It's in pretty good shape. The trim and scrapers are a bitch to install.

Rebuilding a P200 engine for an acquaintance...
Cruciform was really worn, lands on the 4th gear looked like garbage. High mileage bike... like 10k Was rebuilt in the early aughts(?) and has 5k or 6k miles since. I expected to find something off that caused so much wear, but so far nothing stands out. Hmmm? Only culprit I haven't looked at is the selector box. Oh, and also clutch was really janky too - cups had damage, maybe a misaligned spring? Pressure test today or tomorrow if nothing else goes pear shaped.

Grim reaper finally called for the o.e. LML CDI on my 2005 Stella. Can't really complain—gave me 5 good years and lasted 20 years total. Symptom was suddenly wouldn't rev over about 6,000 rpm cold or hot.
Focused first on ruling out fuel delivery issues. I was pretty sure that was not the root problem, but it was time well spent because I had been meaning to replace the gas line, oil line and a leaky sight glass for a while now. Then, thought of going Vape for about 1 second, but it was just too much money--$450 + shipping + tariffs if you want to retain e-start. Went Ducati instead. Retained all the stock wiring so easily reversible in the unlikely event o.e. quality CDIs become available again. As I understand it, the LML CDI has a high rpm timing retard feature that the Ducati does not. Was a little apprehensive about that but it doesn't seem to make any difference on the road. Scoot is running better than ever.
One of those nifty CDI boots is on the way. Might color code wires some day, might not. Black marks are from thick sound insulation used inside right cowl on Stellas.

I just got back from my appointment with the surgeon that did the spinal surgery on me one year ago yesterday. He said the spine fusion looks real good and gave me the green light to ride again. He did warm me again about kick starting, so only a stock scoot would probably be advisable - nothing with a kit. Or something with an e-start, but I'm not too keen on a Stella after the last one (2009) I had. It's been at least 15 months since I rode last, so it may be like starting all over again.

Got the Minarelli cylinder back from the machine shop. Time to check ring gaps.
Stopped by my machinist to look at his PC and get the Minarelli output shaft chucked in the lathe to clean up the area around the sprocket, seal and bearing. Waiting on the special Corteco FKM seals to arrive for the crank so I can continue assembly. Hope they arrive soon, 'cuz I'm considering getting the whole rotating assembly balanced and doing a port map to see if there are any opportunities for more power. Even if the chain only moves by a link or so, it's still forward progress...
Ready to check ring gaps
6202 now fits on the shaft without the help of a mallet.

Today I finally took the plunge. And like plastered the hole in my house. Teriney you have my condolences. Took 4 hours. I felt like I was hit by a train when I finally finished the scratch coat.
I definitely don't recommend doing this type of work with 2 fake shoulders and a fake collarbone. FML.
The start
This last little bit took me 2hrs. I could barely reach above to push the damn plaster in to make the keys.
1st coat is up. Now to let it set for a bit.

Starting to resemble a scooter again. It's only been sitting there since May 21st, 2021. Between pandemic parts delays, a pattern of finding more broken stuff behind each panel I pulled, other people's projects and family stuff, it seldom got worked on...until now.
Bit of a thrash to get it back up in operating condition, but we have a rally in Prescott in late October and it would be nice to have the mile-muncher back. I'm also blocking messing with my GTS until the Maj is fixed, so bonus motivation there.
It kinda stinks to reassemble one of these after leaving it apart for over four years.

Maj is about ready to test fire. Still have some minor electrical to sort out.
Picked up a friend's KLX to fix it. Clutch drags, steering damper is assembled wrong and it blows the main fuse every time you try to beep the horn. The horn is probably dead shorted, but the wiring looks a bit haggard.
With all the plastic, it'd better be fantastic...
Because I'm dumb and I'll help a friend even if I'm not a fan of these sorta things.
