This would be nice to have sitting in the shop.

Too bad it will prob sell for almost the price of a real motor.

HAH! I was thinking the same thing. The shitty part (pun intended) is having to split the case and fish the debris out.

Spent some time working with the new motor over the weekend. I finally got it up and running by replacing the stock LML ignition with a P200E ignition that I had sitting around the garage.

I'm not sure why the video is so blurry, but this was as I ran the last of the gas out of it so it doesn't flood again. I had to pull the jug to grind the DR fins down so it would not rub on the starter ring and gasoline literally flowed out of the crank case. Once that was out of there, though, it fired right up. Hitting the electric start with a 12v battery was much easier than kicking it over, too.

It was pretty smoky to start and blowing all manner of crap out the exhaust, but that's probably due at least in part to flooding caused by the bad float needle. I'm a little worried that it's leaking at the clutch side seal based on the persistent white-ish smoke, but that could also be that I threw some questionable quality marine two-stroke oil in the autolube tank just to get things rolling.

I need to properly set the timing still--I put it in pretty much guessing from when I had it in the Stella and it certainly runs well for that, but that'll be pretty easy now that it's running reliably.

After that, it'll be fixing the leaky float needle and probably disabling autolube since that's the autolube tank zip-tied onto my engine stand...

At that point, I can probably swap it into the Stella in case I don't want to ride the VBB during the new motor build, though, which was kind've the point. Maybe I'll convert it over to 8" and do another DR 177 port job for the VBB with it...

Meanwhile, the parts ordering for the BGM 177 project has begun. Sent a bunch of cash and a big ol' BOM over to HodgeSpeed this morning. Go fast parts plus assembly & disassembly tools which I've never bought along with the basic rebuild bits for two motors (seals, gaskets, cruciforms, etc.) adds up.

I need to estimate spacers, theoretically 4mm for the base to start, but I can't say for sure just yet. The LML cases both seem to have a deck about 1.5mm higher than performance kits really want with a 57mm crank, so there will be at least one more order before the project finishes up.

All in all, fun times in the garage this weeked!

I think on my LML case with 60mm crank & BGM 177, the spacer ended up at 2.3mm to get a squish of 1.7 or so. If someone just went in blindly and fitted a 'standard' 1.5 spacer it might be a bit disappointing.

Apparently 2 stroke motors *really* don't like it when you forget to premix your gas. Laughing emoticon

So, one morning this winter I walked out to the garage to kick up the P200E for a ride to work and the whole garage smelled of gas. And the P was sitting in a puddle. It was too cold to wrench, but not to cold to ride, so I shifted back over to the ZNEN for the remainder of the winter until outdoor conditions were favorable for a carb rebuild. From reading I figured float / needle valve and stuff. I turned off the fuel tap and let her sit.

When I finally got around to it, I kicked it over a few times just to watch and gas was spitting everywhere. It wouldn't start and flooded and I finally got her to catch with the throttle wide open.

I pulled the carb and took it apart and saw nothing. Absolutely everything from the rebuild a year or so ago looked good. I carefully put everything back and proceeded to adjust the mixture screw until it sounded good. I swear everything went back exactly the same as it came out, and I don't think I adjusted the screw all that much, if at all. Now she's back to being a second-kicker and running as well as she ever has.

I swear, that old bike has some sort of seasonal depression and just needs attention from time to time. But don't we all, I suppose.

No.

today i reattached my front brake, reattached my rear shock, put some gas in and rode my scooter for the first time since we put on the new dr180 kit, exhaust, and 24/24 carb.

granted i am in break in period, but the power achieved is night and day compared to previous.

once the break in is complete, i will post what jetting i am at to possibly help others that may want to do this setup.

also put a stock seat, backrest rack and stock mirrors on it

Today I ... Challenged a Harley to a game of "Eagle &am
Yip, being interstate may well have sent me a bit loco...
On Saturday I rode to a river... Not on th "nice, family orientated noisy" side of it, nope, the gravel & windy road side... Then proceeded to fish "fresh-water style" in a tidal river! & home via my new fave Gorston Gorge, complete with 5km/h (that's about 3.8 Miley Cyrus' to you foreign folk) hairpins...
On Sunday I rode with Vespa Club Sydney , who have a few riders with "limited riding experience" (usually: rain, darkness, speed, corners etc...) thru same gorge at... Well... The speed limit!
Then I headed off to re-meet WarHorse, who lived nearby, & also does the Mille (ie he CAN ride), & he took me thru a Mational Park, with wonderful twists & turns, views, forest, sun, everything a ride needs... Yeehaa...
I think I went a bit loco on the Zip.... Head down, flattened, trying to break that 80kmh barrier that's a standard 100cc 4t holds oneself to...
It must have worked, as I flew into the lookout area, skidding past a couple o shiny (matt) Harleys to park carefully...
We got chatting & of course the "why do you ride a scooter when you could ride something bigger" question came out
BTW: that was AFTER they said they had never seen someone come into that area so fast! I call it arriving in style!
I simply mentioned that I (scooterists) can ride full-noise everywhere, yet not get pulled up... Something they are unable to do on their in-stealth machines...
Somehow burnouts were mentioned, so to save face for our community, I had to oblige!
Once the view was seen (and a damn impressive view it is!) WarHorse let me lead down an even better (suited to a slow scoot) downhill section of road..

So, I decided to challenge the Harley to a game of "Screaming Eagle & Lucky Lizzard" (or; Cat & Mouse)... Challenge was accepted! So I have 3 weeks to work out how a standard 100cc 4t is going to escape a 1100cc Eagle!
Ohh well... I know it can, therefore it will!

just coming up with a grocery list for this bike that somehow found its way into our garage, they are getting really sneaky. I haven't actually been looking for bikes for a while and since I quit looking we have gotten a total of four more. This one was a no brainer. I didn't think at all I just grabbed it. Good to see you sub. I new you'd want to share that burn out vid so thought I'd check in here. Not sure if I'll be free to see you beat those Harley's. On that section of road they'd have trouble keeping up. I could only just keep you in my sights.

finally pulled the SERIE PRO 200cc cylinder out of the box to take a look. This is the one that comes with the grandsport piston, new and fresh in the stock bore.

Has to be the most crap casing I've ever seen. The piston is really nice, but the cylinder is a mess.
