Got home to a pleasant surprise. I'd ordered *another* set of rings for the Minarelli P4. The originals with the overbore piston had too big of a ring gap; one was .010" and the other was .012". The second set I ordered was .012" and .014"; even worse for sealing. Finally remembered to source a third set, and they were bang-on at .008" each. Third time's the charm!

I still need to look at the port timings, but I'd parked the project until I could find rings that weren't the poster children for blow-by. Plus, I grabbed a decent work table from the office so I could work through the backlog of engine builds I want to finish. It's been crap to be working in the garage this summer.

Not so much today but my son's hockey season began this weekend. 4 games total. They went 2-2. 2 games they lost were close games so was one of the wins, other win was a 10-0 blowout, shots were 48-2 and 1 of their shots was shot from the other end of the ice and would have been icing if it wasn't on goal. It was already 2-0 1:30 into the game.

There was chaos though, their first win, the power went out with 2:21 left in the game. Was out for 4hrs and turned back on just in time for their second game of the day. Luckily the other team in the game had called a timeout so no hockey was being played at the time. That could be wildly dangerous.

Came home to see Bear gleaming in the evening sun. She'll get ridden tomorrow.

Finally managed to get all the necessary performance parts for the orange "reverse free puppy". Put it all together yesterday and the new owner was delighted to do some laps around my neighborhood. Now that it's running, we're going to pull the body work off and figure out where to mount an oil cooler.

Once the cooler and all the plumbing is done, we're going to slap on some shiny new titanium colored bodywork and a blackout kit to replace all the plastichrome. Also have a lovely set of semi-gloss black powder coated rims with Michelin Pilot Street 2's to bolt on.

Yes, it's just a Genuine Buddy, but dude was super stoked get to ride something fun that he had to get his hands dirty on.

And now there's a leaky RA GT150 lump on my doorstep...

Thanks. Was rough. She stopped eating about a month ago and would only lick up the broth in her food. We had to go away this past weekend for hockey and she didn't eat at all.

Woke up to try to feed her this morning and she was laying on the floor making weird meowing noises. Gutteral sounding ones. Dropped the kids off to school and fiddled with Bear then went to go check on her and she was gone. She was my buddy. I'm gonna miss her.

So, as far as I can tell, the engine in the Royal Alloy GP150 is a total crib off of SYM's notes.

It is about as close to a carbon copy of a Fiddle III engine as you can get without licensing it.

The gaskets full of Chinese Yamabond was unimpressive. It only had 4800 miles on it and leaked oil like a cheap paper towel.

Carefully cleaning the case sections and I'll be checking them for flatness. I hope I can do a better job re-sealing it than the factory.

While it is fun to see the innards of different engines, I'm putting the charity work in Park for a bit so I can work on some of my own stuff.

I opened up the engine to the snowblower and investigated the problem AI told me about.
No broken anything. All looks really good in there. Only issue I found was the sprockets markings didn't line up. So I think someone was in there before me and put it back in wrong. The valves move fine (I didn't know there was another removable piece behind the breather). So I think she may work now that the timings correct.

Gotta scan a gasket and then try again.

All cleaned out.

Marks now lined up.

Plastic gear is fine too.
