So I scored a GL at the Auction at Amerivespa - It is missing the engine side cowl so if anyone had a line on one that would fit pls let me know.,

So when I got it Voodoo helped me get it home - THanks V. - and we stuck a bit of gas in it and got it started!! Last night I changed to a 20/20 carb and took off the rotted exhaust and stuck a Sito + spare i had on it. Checked the tank and holy shit!!! pretty clean - stuck in a gallon ! After a few Idle jet swaps had it running pretty damm good and took it for a spin to Voodoos house to surprise him!! Wha? emoticon Now I just need to unstick the back brake Clown emoticon and change some tires -oil etc! Pretty stoked...

I picked up a GL too, also missing the engine side cowl (had one but off a sprint and messed up). Clutch is slipping on mine, so no riding for me yet. body is in remarkably good shape.

Leaves me with the issue of needing to get rid of a bike and not really wanting to give any of them up.

Yeah plenty -but NOT GL cowls they're sorta unique as far as i know = i tried ones from all my scoots to no avail. ... I am going to possibly sell the Sprint cowl he threw on there to some one to offset buying a new one ..

So today I'm reassembling my P motor after replacing the kickstart gear to accommodate the folding lever I'm making. I came up w/ a simple idea I'll try: instead of the usual double nutting to remove/install cylinder studs, I'm gonna try carefully grinding 2 small flats at the top end 6mm across so I can spin them in & out w/ an end wrench.
hyhyhy u'll be laugh for sure seeing me teaching, most folks i know did laugh but mostly they laugh on everything that i did so its not something new i practically did everything out of boxes in life neither its on vehicle nor studying Laughing emoticon the latest news is i have the interview but got no job so i will be selling parts while my wife will selling cloth for her workplace in this weekend vespa party, i bet u all cant wait to see the pics, will post it in monday for sure until then good luck with the P motor and cheer Brother T

Glad I checked
Went through both bikes I plan to use for each day of our annual rally. Found a frayed clutch cable on the GT. Would have sucked to snap while leading the ride. Always pays to check everything routinely. Got to run that sucker outside at twilight. I really need one of those head mounted flashlight doodads.

That is super neat Terry! When do you go into production?
T5Wilhelm wrote:

Really interesting! Looks like he uses a Piaggio 7-spring gear to mesh with the primary drive, and it opens from the cover side as opposed to the normal way.
Crimaz wrote:
This 05/2015 project was designed with a 3D drawing program, each component being designed in an assembly study.

Each part of the clutch is completely new and dimensioned to be easily mounted without interfering with the other parts of the engine. Also compatible with recent PWA washer models with mixer.

The CMX is defined as a clutch turned, as the basket is integral to the gear (pinion).

This technical choice allows the basket (commonly known as a bell) to stand when the clutch is pulled (clutch release). Thanks to this inversion of the moving parts, the clutch becomes much more progressive in the initial thrust of the wasp, minimizing any annoying rattles (a known problem with clutches of the old conception). This cautiousness, coupled with the remarkable contact points of gasketed disks and conductive discs, makes the CMX an ideal clutch for engines with power over 15 hp, avoiding premature wear caused by hammering contact parts

I do remember those and they go for gold on ebay these days. Vader had one & binned it for the reason you gave. This one is high & tucked in so hoping won't be a problem. Was more dangerous previously w/ that sticky outy thing on a skinny bike.

Spent 3 hours at the DMV getting the paperwork started on the GL. Next step is a trip to the CHP for inspection.
Im going to go Vermont route .. seems a bit easier... maybe...

Also u see that SIP has repop GL cowls that look ok - i linked to them up the page ..
Skip Calif and go straight to Vermont! CHP in Calif can be real hit and miss! Vermont, all by mail baby!
Not an option with a damaged VIN, also the California route is not that hard with an in-state bill of sale.

The smallie engine has a seal that is literally glued in and I am having to Apply solvent and scrape out without thrashing the area. Had to level out the case on the table so the solvent can do it's work. Found a good solution to keep the area level..
