I am running out of garage space...in a good way! Red smallie acquisition will become frame donor for camo.....the twist in that camo frame is just a bit too much and the shock rubs . Frame straightener in L.A. says he can do it for 300. However the red one popped up in San Diego last week...MJ Rally and I carved out what we each wanted, he got the engine and I got the frame. 100 sport engine in camo is sorted and ready for transfer. Red rattle-can is over original green smallie paint and will most likely be painted over. Started taking bits off it last night. Thanks to MJ for picking it up and making the deal, thanks to So-Cal for dropping it off on his way home from their weekend trek.

Smoker? Put pedals on it?
Camo motif was growing on me every time I looked at it which is the hard part here.

Bbq was first thought. Yard art herb garden 2nd thought. Maybe McWeber12 can convert it into a beer tap for his home brew. Or sell it as 100% restored and low milez Razz emoticon ? Running when parked. It was a great deal so I'm not out any money at all. Value of camo motor and both side panel doors exceeds what was paid for both bikes and engine rebuild.

I'm hoarding all the old racks and crash bars I can find. Might make the P the mod-mobile. Blue will stay as is with just the spare tire rack on the back., the smallie I have a rally front rack for that might look really cool. Now just need the time....

Fitted a side stand on the T5, and finally replaced the boards on my pit before I end up falling into the fucking thing.

Side stand is great, but need to find a rubber buffer of some sort as the foot end hits the frame when it pings back up.

Still deciding whether to fit the centre stand as well.

Got the electricals stable on the Gilera, no lights but I'll deal with that after this weekend (Giro d'California). Also ran a new throttle cable and fuel lines, adjusted the clutch and made some roll chart holders for it.

Still have to sort out the speedometer/clock but it's ready enough I'm no longer in a panic. I'll get pictures tomorrow.

Slip a kickstarter rubber about halfway up the leg of the side stand. It will protect the floorboards from the sidestand when it retracts.
That's a very nice looking T5, and that sidestand does look super cool on it. Just be VERY, VERY, VERY careful with those side stands! The way they're designed, the scooter will be in too much in a upright position, and could very easily tip over on the opposite side of the stand. I ended up shortening my sidestand so my scoot would quit tipping over.

Thought I may as well fit a reinforcing plate along with the SIP side stand, and replace the old bolts with some new high tensile ones.

Glad you like the T5, whodatschrome, and thanks for the advice! Was thinking of maybe super glueing a tap washer (or similar) on the stand, where that little circle is, to prevent the leg from hitting the frame.

Here's a link to a pic of that buffer on the SIP Racer. I did the same thing with my sidestand.

Received my first parts for a reed setup I am starting on a set of cases with a bad rotary. Current motor is a Malossi 221 with a lonstroke head. I am going to "raise" the cylinder on the new setup so I needed a 57mm stroke head...

Are they bought roll chart boxes or did you make them? I'm using a lunchbox for my strip maps and am trying to find a way to stop them unravelling as I ride, meaning I have to roll it a long way to get back to the next sheet.

Had a leak from the engine and sputtering at high RPM's.

Thought it was coming from either exhaust, cylinder or cylinder head, so I took apart the top end and replaced the cylinder base gasket + added Motoseal; new cylinder stud nuts & washers.

Used ultra copper on the exhaust connection.

Still leaking and sputtering, so opened the carb (I was sure the leak was not coming from there!)

Low and behold, fuel in the air box and discovered the two screws holding the float bowl cover on had worked themselves loose!

SMH, but issue resolved.

Now I'm looking at a carb rebuild tutorial on the Scooter Mercato webstie, and it shows the two float assembly screws having wavy lock washers - not sure if mine do or not. Guess I should check for that.

I just sent that link to Ginch....

looks awesome.. BUT... I think you'd need to buy all the matching Pinasco bits and pieces........ (similar to my v90 build... I started going down the DRT hole.. it was pretty much that... everything needed to be DRT to fit properly... once I had all the bits, it all worked out well..

My point is.. once you get into high-performance small frame tuning.. I've found it best to stick w/ the same brand (maker) especially though the transmission...

mixing and matching different "Brands / Manufacturers" can get a bit "dicey"

I'd hate to have you trying to find a machinist who can mill .05mm off the face of a hardened steel 1st gear..

That case is gonna take some specialized parts... not just "off the shelf" stuff.. Looks awesome though... looking forward to seeing it built..
