Not show quality or anything but cleaned my engine up enough to verify that it is indeed aluminum and not some Hi-Tech Italian modelling clay.
I can now see all the bits and check for missing fasteners.

That sucks Bitza. Does it look like someone hit it with a car, or was someone having some fun by smashing it? Really awful thing there.

Yesterday was "fix the frozen rear brake pedal on the Stella" day.
The damn thing gets salty water sprayed on it all winter and gets stiffer and stiffer. It had gone from 'presses down, then has to be pulled back up with my boot" to "presses down, then is too stiff to pull back up with my boot," so it was time for a cleanup. My thinking was to drive the hinge pin out, clean, sand off any pitting, grease everything, then re-assemble with a new rear brake cable. The brake arm itself got cleaned & lubed when I rebuilt the motor this spring, so it's about as good as it will ever get. Sadly, the pin refused to come out. It's just press-fitted, but totally frozen into the housing. I was able to work at it with PB Blaster enough to get it back in service, though. To make matters worse, I didn't have a spare brake cable after all (which I *know* I had, damnit!), so reinstalling the old one required me to unwind and clip off a broken strand of the old cable. It's all back together now, but it'll be coming apart for a new cable as soon as one arrives. Needless to say, this all would have been much more enjoyable if I had a motorcycle lift instead of crawling around on the garage floor. |

Received my parts for my new setup on Monday and today we put an "old" Malossi 210 on a friend's P cause he soft seized it for the 4th time (he always WOT's it). It was a used kit, with a bit of piston play. New rings, modified stock head and kept squish at 1,5mm. No work on ports or crank. We also put on a lighter flywheel from a COSA engine, after removing the starter ring. Started with a 128 main jet. Really revvy and with lots of power although it can't reach it's full potential without work on the cases and crank. The P is he's daily rider so he needed it ASAP...

That's a sweet set of base and head gaskets, where did it come from? Would love to have a "library" of them. Instead I keep ordering them one by one from Germany .

Just got this from my brother Ebeth... who most certainly rocks!!
I had the more rectangular version but this one imo is just perfect for the P and enhances the lines. It's for a longer-term project based on a 2007 PX that I bought without a motor. In the second pic it's sitting a little high - I'm replacing a broken headset on a mate's 2015 PX150 so it was a handy model to show off the Exclusive headset. Just sitting a little high because the cables and wires are not threaded through. Thank you once again E!!

I've decided to take this baby down to the original paint. There are 2 layers of spray to bust through. I got through 1 cowl last night. Look at that shine. You could eat off of it.
