Today I logged in here for the first time in a long time. Hi to all.
I might be here for a bit as I have 2 broken scoots and looking to make a few changes. Have some cr80 clutch plates to play with too.

trip down the rabbit hole is about to begin....the P needs a rebuild....

This morning, it was 23f when I left the house.

Naturally, I forgot to turn on the fuel tap, so I started stalling out just as I got to the second traffic light from my house. Realized I'd forgotten, but not before it died. Had to push it up onto the curb to get out of the road, then get fuel back in the carb and running again.

Hopefully my ride home will be less eventful.

Just got hold of a centre stand ...... might need fiddling with as it's for a px but it should make it harder for people to push the fucker over ..... now need to feel well enough to fit it

this week i only have the chance to paint the smallie half as its rainny all the time and i am running out of thinner so this will do for now as today i am putting the lamp and bits stuff back to its place

Today I opened up a friend's "blown" 200 engine (PX200E FD). A few days ago, he told me that he heard a loud noise upon changing from 2nd to 3rd. Yesterday he sent me some photos of his engine, after seeing a puddle of oil under it. The cases blew up at the kickstarter's stop end. As it turned out, he "lost" a tooth from the tree's 3rd gear. I figured that the tooth got chewed up and wedged by the 1st gear cog, on the notch of the kickstarter's rubber stop cavity, resulting on cracking the cases. Thankfully, all pieces are there, so we will have them welded on Monday (cases already cleaned up). Of course, it will now result to a full rebuild, cause some parts desperately needed replacing (worn cruciform, leaky inside axle seal, worn flywheel bearing, etc.)...

Huh. Small world, I have a P150 motor in similar condition to be welded back together but the whole kickstart boss broke away from the case. No worries though, Greek welders know how to fix broken Vespa motors as I found out. Cast aluminum is tougher to weld than billet, but preheating and experience will have that motor back on the road.

I'm gonna sort me scoot soon hopefully but I'll be using the smashed bits as I can't see how I'd ever match the grey primer ..... primer never mixes to the same colour twice ..... I could put a classic cover on as I have 2 but I hate em .....

finish put the bits on the smallie and in the morning i saw this.. a poddle pool of oil, hasnt got the time to see where it got leak but i can start it in 1st kick and the brake still frim.. any ideas guys

Check your O rings, shifter linkage, kickstart and clutch cover.

will do mate, one more question, did the shifter linkage have a sealer in inside nor outside?

sold the sr150 and bought a campervan with the cash.

the leg allows me to walk around a bit. learning how to kickstart with my other leg. xx

in here it was the suzuki ts125 1978 the star of the era

managed to knock the dent out but it fucked the paint so had to bodge that but didn't take a pic of that. ..... filled the back of the crack with resin on the cover n sorted the screw hole... just need a horn grill n badge n it'll be ok ish

Wanna fit me centre stand but the bloody cold n me treatment gives me bad pins n needles ...... might warm up enough to sort it next week. .... oh for a shed to work in

Tonight I ... Got my VespaCrosse bodginess built. Ready for tomorrow.
The rain stayed away, as its "one of those weekends" where you get a months rain over the weekend & gets an emergency SMS from the SES... Ohh yeah, the dirt track should be fun.

Took the smallie out for a romp with mr.j. Half way thru the battery door flew off and landed in the middle of the road... fortunately mr.j was able to rescue it before it was crunched by traffic (thx buddy). Only minor scrapes, easily fixed... but...

Rode back with no door and discovered the engine ran a full 20- 25° cooler. What's up with that?

Lucky you, engine door, boo hoo but a squashed battery door could ruin your day

Um, you have a big fat pipe tucked up in behind that battery door. If the pipe gets cooled better, does that mean the engine can run cooler too? Looks like maybe it does.


Punch some matching louvers in your battery door so it looks like your engine door, lets find out if that's it.

Great idea... except it's probably a lot harder than it looks to get those rolled edges and little raised brows right. Also it would make me a little queasy chopping into a hard-to-find piece of metal like a battery door.

What kind of temps are other people seeing with big curly pipes sitting next to the engine? I was maxing up around 420°F.

snapped clutch cable on the Super like 8 miles from home yesterday, banged through the gears all the way back and then bought some spares at motorsports. taking camo smallie and red frame up to MJ Rally today, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not gonna be able to divert the appropriate time to dismantle and swap all parts to new frame so I've commissioned the zen master and all-around great bro. Plus the peace of mind that everything is dialed right will be good. I also have the P engine to eventually dismantle and freshen up so will try that myself with the help of the Paxton guide (and so-cal, sdjohn, Mr J, McWeber12, and MJ eventually I'm sure). a busy work schedule and impending job interviews not adding much time to my calendar. i just want all scoots running well, I'm tired of just moving pieces around in the garage. life...life...life....

Socal if the latch is loose on that door you should wrap a wide rubber band around it, it keeps it from vibrating open. I like the ones that come on broccoli.

Still working out a rattle on my P since swapping out the cruciform. Got a couple of rides in without slipping put of gear. Pullled great up local hills!
