I know I know... don't crap on me... but a neighbor just stopped by my garage, as I'm the "scooter guy" in the hood...
... But I may actually buy a "buddy" scooter to scoot to work and back home.. it's like new (300 miles) perfect condition... $300 bucks.. They came over a couple minute ago, but it's pitch black.... but all the electrical works and if it fires up tomorrow.. when there's some daylight.. if it looks good I may buy it, ride it... or just sell it for $400 or whatever I can get for it.. .. Looks brand new.. I know it's a 4 stroke buddy (against everything we worship here)... BUT for 3 bills.. I think I may have a deal.. Spare my car fro the commute, or sell it... It's just funny how neighbors know who's the "scooter guy" in the hood! ![]() |

BUT.. I'm seriously bent... I told the guy I'd be back today between 5-6 (still light out).... I had my 300 in hand.. and I pull up to his house... "it's gone" I'm like WTF? Anyway.. someone got a pretty much brand new buddy for 300 (or less)... I was just gonna commute on it, or add a hundy and sell it.. it looked brand new.. Cock sucker.. ![]() I should have stopped on my way TO work... and then gone and bought a basket and an orange helmet! ![]() edit: AND a cup holder! |

Story kinda like Vader's - I usually spend weekends with the garage open and working on one of my kids cars, my truck or some kind of scoot. So I am known as the local shade tree mechanic and people come over with their problems and offers to sell me something that does not run, be it a lawn mower, motorcycle and recently an old Honda Elite 250. Friend of a neighbor said it just quit running, is making a grinding sound when the electric starter is engaged, and could I check it out. I do, a few days later, nothing obvious and tell him it needs more time put into it to find the cause. We load it on to my truck, he comes out with the title, tells me to keep it as he just bought it to get his motorcycle license and was going to buy a bigger scooter. Good for me. Rest of the story - not so good. Low compression (40), took the valve cover off to check and the cam had a wonky bearing and the cam chain was missing off the cam sprocket. Found it down and wrapped around the crank with some teeth missing off the crank sprocket. Not worth rebuilding even with just 3200 miles, Trying to find a cheap donor engine. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose..........

My mech converted my scoot to all LED's today. He just replaced the - I think it's called indicator relay -behind the battery with an DC relay. A slight bit of rewire here and there and now full LED. Pretty happy as now all the indicators are good. My rear indicators often don't work. Let's see if the indication lasts I don't see why not.

The first use of the name 'Union' appears in 1625. There are various theories as how it became known as the 'Union Jack', but most of the evidence points to the name being derived from the use of the word 'jack' as a diminutive. This word was in use before 1600 to describe a small flag flown from the small mast mounted on the bowsprit, and by 1627 it appears that a small version of the Union flag was commonly flown in this position. For some years it was called just 'the Jack', or 'Jack flag', or 'the King's Jack', but by 1674, while formally referred to as 'His Majesty's Jack', it was commonly called the Union Jack, and this was officially acknowledged. I was surprised when I first learned this was the case. |

My brother in law brought me this rotten P200E. It was sitting outside, on a Greek island, since 2005. We got it for free. I poured a little gas in the carb and it came alive at first kick. I am impressed...

Removed and tore down my rear caliper on the Ninja 250, pads down to metal . Parts ordered, will get it back together soon hopefully - it's my mile muncher.
Installed Voodoo's carb on my P200 but didn't have time to test it. Finished buttoning my Primavera back up for now, but some jetting games will ensue later based on helpful comments in my thread the other day. |
