Problem is that the hub needs machining. I have to take 1mm of the disc's mount surface on the hub...
Why does it need machining?
Mine fitted no worries.
Did you get the ceramic pads?
Will you be using DOT5 brake fluid?

Ohh, such a great brake

Last night I cast aluminum in America for the first time with my home made furnace. We poured about a dozen times in our little foundry Greece and finished up the last day I was there with the first rough prototype for an enlarged injector body casting for a hopped up Gillera GP800, the world's fastest scooter w/ 75 HP from the factory.

That was 2 weeks ago, here's last night making a random 'lost foam' proof of concept part to inaugurate the new beer keg & charcoal furnace:

I have the Grimeca Classic NT hub. Polini says in the instructions that the hub needs a 1mm shaving for the bottom washers to fit under the disc. I have a 4 pot radial caliper from Adelin. There are no ceramic / sintered pads for it. DOT 5 is not suitable for the Piaggio pumps so I don't want to risk it...

Anyways will try it on and see if it really needs machining...

Here's my thread of my front break upgrade...

So yesterday, having mounted my Vespa Santa snow tires (Thanks, MJRally!) on Christmas Day and having a few electrical additions (moved the Mad Max light wiring inside the frame & moved the switch under the hi/lo beam switch on the handlebars; added a small light to illuminate my gauges), I set off for the train in -3f and leftover snow from Christmas Eve.

I took a picture to show the light in action and realized that the TrailTech only reads down to 12f. The Koso only reads down to 32f.

Got about halfway to the train and...motor died. I must have pinched the fuel line re-installing the tank. So on the side of the road in -3f, I pulled the tank, re-arranged the fuel line, then managed to get it running again.

By this time, I'd been out in the weather for an hour, but rather than cold, I was completely sweated through. I had a 5 cm icicle hanging off my face mask, all my exposed fleece was covered in frost, and I was just...done.

So I turned around, rode home, and worked from home yesterday. Turns out the trains were all jacked up anyway, so it's probably just as well.

Yesterday afternoon, I went out, fired the Stella up, and rode around the neighborhood for a while just to make sure it was all sorted, but I'm now thinking today may be another work-from-home kind of day...
Even with with the fiasco that was yesterday, I'm still pretty pleased with my panel light.

Night Vision Preservation FTW!

Good Lord , you are a tough bastard! I would not have lasted 10 minutes in that kind of cold. I hate it when it goes below 40 (it used to be 50, but I moved up here from south Florida in 2005 and am getting used to it slowly). Kudos to you.

Finished our new club's badge in Photoshop. We wanted something that combines elements from our old badges. The sun in the headlight, is the sun of Vergina, a nearby small town where the tomb of Philip II was discovered. Philip II was the father of Alexander the Great. The wasps surrounding the Vespa, represent Greece and Italy using their flag's colors...

Our club was "conceived" as an idea in 1997 by 2 friends, who managed a successful 2 day event, gathering Vespa friends from all over Greece. They counted 52 Vespas and 86 participants which was a huge achievement. In 2003 the club was officially acknowledged and became part of the Vespa Club Hellas. On April 21st we celebrate our 21 years and preparing an event with a celebratory badge that I'm currently working on...

Such a good thread this one ! My 2 cents: First fire up of the 89 PX200 today after a engine freshen up. New stuff that went in was a new Maz 60 crank, Pinasco 225 barrel and head, Newfren Cosa 2 clutch, all new bearings, seals ect.. Dellorto phbh 30. Surprised it burst into life 3rd kick ! Pretty stoked. Just need to get a jetting kit and fine tune the carb up and she'll be sweet to go

It's hard out there for a scooterist lately.

First, I had a headlight wire break in the rat's nest that calls itself the Stella's wiring harness one night this week. Opened the headset, found the misbehaving wire and fixed that. Also discovered that two of the four headset bolts were missing, so I had to go pick up some replacements at the hardware store today.

Then, yesterday, I rode downtown to catch a couple of cover shows my daughter was playing in, which gave me a chance to open up the Stella on the freeway a little bit. I'd been on the highway about a mile or so when I got a cutout like I was out of gas. Let off the throttle and it caught back on before it died completely.

Jump back on the throttle and this time it does die completely. So I coasted over toward the right lane and managed to do a bump start in 4th gear doing about 45 mph, got it going, but could only hold about half throttle before it started getting fuel starved again.

Jumped off at the next exit, shoved the fuel line around a little to try to clear any kinks, then headed on downtown. The return trip was good, but 70mph in the dark on a highway with a 40mph limit and a tendency to potholes this time of year got a little sketchy at a couple points, but all in all, it was a good ride.

Today, I headed out to run some errands and when I got home, it was running a little rough, so I was checking the motor in the garage, bumped the throttle a few times to see if the idle screw needed adjusting when I hear a bang and rattling sound and the motor dies.

I look down and see the flywheel nut lying on the garage floor. It had come loose and popped off. The flywheel fan cover is not looking so good, four broken fins and more of them beat up and the woodruff key sheared clean in two. Luckily, no damage to the channel on crank or flywheel.

Fortunately, I bought a bunch of fly-side woodruff keys a few years ago after shearing three of them while getting the timing set on my VBB, so other than it taking forever to find them, I had plenty of spares. Put that back together, now it's time for the fuel line.

Pull the tank, and sure enough, the fuel line is bent double, so I straighten it out so that the pressure regulator is pretty much pointing straight out the body and now that's golden, too. Why it's taken me so long to figure out that arrangement of the regulator, I'll never know. As it is, I need to chop a good 6" off the fuel line heading to the carb, but I'll get to that sooner or later.

It's all fixed, but sometimes, it feels like when it rains, it pours with these beasts things breaking down.

Sounds like a normal day out for any LML/Stella

Yeah, and rego's due now so if I don't get the bajaj working within 3 months it will need a thorough "blue slip" inspection. I need to be avoiding that.
