Today (well tonight) I rang SIP.
Because the order I placed and paid for on Friday, the one I paid extra for SIP express, the one I got an email about Friday titled "Your Package has been shipped out", the one I paid to have shipped time to have this weekend, the one that I emailed them about yesterday (no reply), the one that UPS say SIP haven't ordered a pickup for... is STILL sitting in their warehouse. Apparently, if you order more than 1000 Euros worth in one go, SIP are required to fill out extra paperwork. They were too busy to do this Friday, (and it seems Monday), and to unconcerned to let me know. Nothing in my email telling me, nothing in their FAQ's, nothing in their order process, nothing in my invoice, and no need (it seems) for me to be upset. Apparently, it "may" ship today, if they get the paperwork done. They're willing to refund my 5 euro express fee if I write to them and ask. German efficiency? Not this week. Grrrr... |

Planes & Trains Running on Time was the Italians
I used to pay the five Euro's for same-day packing, but found that it never seemed to make a difference as to when it actually arrived. I also remembered to get registered for Amerivespa a few days ago, now I just need to get my logistics together so I'm not sleeping on the ground. I'm planning to ride up from Chicago if others want to meet up here and go. |

Giving credit where it's due, I placed a SIP order last night and it's already shipped with a tracking number and delivery estimation. This is actually better than I've come to expect from them.
I know some folks have had not-so-good things to say about SIP from a logistics/operations perspective lately, so I'm wondering if they made some changes internally for the better. |

I know some folks have had not-so-good things to say about SIP from a logistics/operations perspective lately, so I'm wondering if they made some changes internally for the better. However recently I made the mistake of placing an order in early December. DHL took 5 WEEKS to arrive. Lessons learned: Don't order in December, and don't use DHL. ⚠️ Last edited by NotAutomatic on UTC; edited 1 time

Yeah, DHL was definitely your first mistake. The only time to use them is if you're shipping somewhere really sketchy, so only they will touch it. They are basically the LTL (Less-than-loaded) carriers of the air freight world. Your stuff will sit in a container until they have enough to justify the cost of transporting it.
FedEx is my go-to for SIP and if I order over the weekend, I'll usually have it in Chicago by Thursday, Friday at the latest, unless it failed to get out of SIP itself on time, which did happen a few times lately. And while SIP always ship Signature Required, they have a pickup arrangement at the Walgreens a couple blocks from my house, or if it goes back to the depot, it's only about ten minutes from my house, so I can get it in the evening after work or on Saturday morning. So I fully expect to have my parts and hopefully have the Sprint ready for final carb tuning this weekend, even if the weather is supposed to be suck-tastic. |

I ordered and paid bu 11:30 their time yesterday morning, with the added "SIP EXPRESS" tax.
As of now, it's still showing as not yet picked or packed. Seems paying the extra for three day shipping is a waste (again...). |

It was to wet to pour aluminum but did get the cores done for my MotoBi manifold. Did a trial ram up of the green sand mold. Forgot to sieve the sand on the cope leading to a really lumpy and ugly surface. Also had some issues with the locating pin holes filling with sand, so need to plug one side of them.
Over all the patterns are working well, should cast sometime in the next week.

Something's wrong
I was having a hard time getting my smallframe cases together. Then all of a sudden they went together easy...
Then I looked down at the bench. time to go inside.

Ha ha! Still, better that it was something big and obvious than something tiny and essential - that you didn't see until the motor was back in the frame making strange crunchy noises!
Of course, I wouldn't know anything about the last bit.... |

Yesterday, I went out to the garage and realized the license plate is missing off my Sprint.
I'm not sure if I just didn't get it well-attached when I installed it (seems unlikely, but who knows?), or if someone stole it. I guess I'll find out for sure if I start getting ticket notices. Meh. |

Nice paint job Ebeth.
Yesterday, helped a friend with a soft rebuild on his PX125 that's been sitting a couple years because of a seal leak. Prob go with a oversize 166 head and sr exhaust. Stator also needs repairing, too.
