These all look great. Anything special needs to be done to mount on a P series w battery?

I'd like to see the answer to this too. My 1980 P200 (Spermy) is bone stock but I'd be interested in upgrading to an LED headlight. I'd like something close to Plug & Play but I'm guessing the headlight would have to be converted to DC. How would I do that? What else?

It would be difficult on an early P series. From what I've found, it can't really be done on a double yellow wire stator. Or maybe it can, but you would also have to swap over to a single yellow wire wire harness? https://scooterlab.uk/convert-your-ac-ignition-to-full-dc-for-pennies-workshop/

Option B is to just wire in an AC to DC converter right before the headlight. PK125 XL disc brake and LED headlight conversion

You could also tap into the DC wires at the keyswitch. Tie in a jumper to the left side light switch and you're good to go. Clean DC right off the battery.

My neighbor across the alley hooked me up with a motorcycle lift for $20 today. And my missing second roll of flooring finally showed up, so I'll get that down and be able to finish unpacking the new workshop.

And I'm going to take Jim's P200 motor off his hands so I can build a Kill-Myself-Fast motor.

All-in-all, not a bad day for this scooterist.

It looks like a whole subculture. It's like the aesthetic opposite of the crazy 20-wheeled, crew-operated multi-engine Vespas we usually see.

I like it

Although MJRally's suggestion looks like another good way to go.

And I'll throw one more thing out...

I'm not sure at how many watts the DC side of the stator will charge the battery back up and at what rate. A standard P has a 35 watt headlight that has 12VAC going to it. I'm not sure how many watts are coming off the DC side of the stator. Obvious there is plenty of DC to power the brake/tail light and turn signals, but I don't know how much is left over to power a 12VDC accessory. I was using 40 watt grip heaters on my P2 (wired directly to the battery), and the 9ah battery that I had couldn't quite keep up. I would think that it would be able to handle a 20ish watt LED headlight with no problem.

finally rode with other humans! The P had an engine refresh and shocks in late 2019 and has been in covid lockdown except for quick round-the-blocks. recently sorted a carb gas leak, and rode with scooterfriends for the first time in a long while! Scoot was happily cruising at 55-60 down the strand to Coronado on a fine San Diego day. The shock change from 40-yr old stock ones did wonders for the ride, fer sure.

Cheers peeps and F-Covid.

Double story here. I finally got rid of my red '62 VNB that nobody seemed interested in and it turned out to be easy. A kid up the street that is into little bitty stand on 2T scooters and pocket bikes, and has a nice Kawasaki 300 Scrambler bike I saw when we met up while I was riding my Vespa.

He was immediately in love with the look and the sound. He followed me home, then saw my herd and I allowed as to how I might not really NEED that old VNB too badly, coz just a 3 speed w/ a tired 150 top end that had 20/20 carb and kickstart lever 'borrowed' over time for more important bikes.

So we dug up a dirty old 20/20 cleaned it up and stole a kickstart lever from another motor. Reward: squirt of gas down the venturi & dang thing started 2nd kick. Now hook up gas tank and some gas in it. So now it just keeps running, nice idle and all. Aired up the tires and tried a ride! Nice, and lots of beans too after just sitting ~5 years! Discovered front wheel nuts loose though, OOPS .

Second story is muff and sidestand conversion and welding lessons, see the pics.
We found that the bike had one of those anti pollution LML type muffs, that's it you see on the right. Also a second ratty RH 200 pipe like the one we converted.

I had a nice PM tuning pipe that bolted right on for much better power and musical customer desired racket

But 1) sorry, can't be include free 2) can't change tire with it on, and worst 3) gonna grind on the road when he corners fast

so what about that ratty looking RH pipe in pic #1? It's for a 200, but maybe, if we changed the inlet somehow...
