Been enjoying the new slide on the P200, helped a lot with light throttle high RPM spark knock. So I thought I'd try to go back from BE4 mixer to BE5 (no holes to small holes on high RPM side), since it seemed I might have richened it up almost too much. Started feeling lean spots here and there, so I swapped back. Mixer has been chosen, BE4 is much better, staying with it.

Next up is pulling the cylinder to get the top milled for the rest of my squish, and I'm now thinking about either the Kehper or Kytronic, as I'm running 18 degrees and could have some mid RPM advance back.

... sold a table & chairs I'd put on craigslist to a guy.. he saw my scooters in the garage and told me he'd bought a vespa (he didn't know which model, but it had a trap headset).. anyway, he bought it from a guy who supposedly imported vespas by the shipping container from "Italy" and exported porn.

leaving my garage 1/2 open when I'm in here attracts all kinds of characters..

Import Vespa / Export Porn? Sounds like a good deal!

Oh shit.. and as I type.. here comes another neighborhood guy.. .hold on..

ok.. another neighborhood "regular" to my garage just popped by (when the garage is cracked, the folks stop by).. good guy this guy.. he'd found pretty cool brass (it's aluminum underneath) asian styled devil head (complete with two mounting screws on the back) that he thought I might use on on of my bikes..

It's cool.. so I'll strip the brass off, paint it black, sand it w/ 2000 grit until I get through the black on bunch of spots and maybe stick it at the top of my horncast on my 50special.. and in return, I'll take a pic of a bike he wants to sell and put it on craigslist for him..

I've made a lot of friends in the hood w/ my scooters...

Today I dropped a bell mouth intake (from oops clunk) on to my 20:20 carb and roughly jetted it. Shape ways had free shipping a while back so thought I'd give it a try.
It made a noticeable difference. Revs higher and more kick in the powerband.
For a simple filter I used some stocking over the carb tray hole with the bellows over the top.

You're the best E... I can never read a post of yours and leave w/o a smile.. thanks for being you Ebeth..

... today I... went on a really nice ride up the PCH w/ a buddy on his Lambretta.. weather was perfect and traffic was light.. very nice ride up the coast followed by a nice stretch of freeway... the 50special wanted to stretch it's legs and it felt good.. ya gotta do that every once and a while.. scooters need stretching and exercise too.. Ahhh that felt good..

Pit stop at the Malibu Country Mart for a little irony... I think there's an idea in here.. "HOMICIDE.. a Fragrance by RALPH LAUREN" Razz emoticon

Overheating and rattling noise
I had a rattling noise with the engine going way past a temp I am comfortable with around 170 degrees on motorways sections of a charity toy run last Saturday week, well pissed off thought the kit was toast. I decided to have a look today and see what was causing it turned out to be a loose plug. So in celebration I treated the scooter to a new throttle cable, snakehead and trumpet. hopefully the trumpet leans the mix up slightley more. I also forgot how difficult it is to work in my headset.

Today I received this cool Vespa multi-tool for my tool kit. I think the packaging is a little overkill, but I'm sure I'll find a use for this tin.

Had this sprayed black and fitted. Sounds excellent. Loud but not crazy loud, has a nice muffled motocross sound now. Torque is definitely a bit down but it just sounds so awesome. Some new updates being fitted soon to take advantage of the modified pipe

Ordered the Kheper ignition unit because my Kytronic was cancelled due to some kinks in the manufacturing process. They were very prompt and honest about having an issue and they should be running off a new batch in a couple months. Seem like good folks, hope their next batch comes off without a hitch.

Met gincho and his mate Rolf last night they were stopping by on an East to West Australia drive. Was a busy weekend, sold a T5 and swapped a moped for a Saab coupe and had a pizza and records night with some local vinyl nuts. Drinking some leftover beers and trying to recover today.

Here's the Saab I got in exchange for a 50cc puch

Got accepted to ride the GS in this years Giro d'California.

So now I'm in a mad dash to find a way to mount the rally clock and two roll charts. Came up with this windscreen, could be better but not too bad for something quick.

I'd love one if it fit a Super or a Lambretta Jet200 headlight..

I've seen nice vintage screens that are very very small, but I can't seem to get my hands on one..

what's the diameter of the GS headlight Patrick?

the opening is 132mm, but this is not the screen you want!

I started this one off with a clean design but quickly got into the "Just get it done" mode.

I've been planning one for the Rally, wait for that and it will fit your super just fine.

Decided that I'll send off my P200 barrel to have Hot Rod Al shorten it, port the exhaust and transfers for me. The last phase of "stock plus" tuning is about to begin. While it's off I can size up how the Pinasco kit I've got on the shelf is looking for squish and decide if I send that off to Al afterward. I feel like I need to hurry a bit because he's transitioning away from scooter work and more towards his wood work and moped tuning.
