Hello All

I just bought a 2008 LX 150 off a guy who had it garaged or covered always and only put 1900 miles on it. I rode it home Saturday. It took nearly 2 hours of riding to avoid the highway. It was a blast. I want to ride it more but I haven't yet registered it or gotten my motorcycle license.

Is it against the law for me to be riding it in the meantime? I've made an appointment at the DMV but its weeks away!

This is my fist two wheeled motorized vehicle ever, btw. I'm pretty excited (and cautious)!

Nice ride and welcome. I see you are in Oakland, CA. Yes, you are breaking the law riding without your M1. You will need an M1 to ride that scoot here in CA. Don't get your new ride towed away before you get to really enjoy it! Try another DMV for an earlier appointment perhaps?

Right. Thanks. I think I'll also take the recommended motorcycle safety course. I could use some tips for safe riding. I plan to stay off freeways. Though maybe the bay bridge to ride around SF might be okay some day once I get more confident.

Nice scooter!

Yes...park it until you get licensed. There's a ton of information here to read in the meantime.

Don`t know about the law. Wrong side of the pond, but enjoy - looks great.

Go to the DMV today and take your written motorcycle test. Once you pass that you have 6 months to get your full license.
