I was wondering how many miles I could possibly expect on my Vespa Gts 300 before it will need serious repairs other then regular maintenance.
What is the most anybody has put on theirs?
Bob.

This is a common question. Do your scheduled maintenance and don't worry too much. Don't skip the valve adjustment. Mine has 40,000 miles on it. Several members have much more. Turkman had over 60k and was going strong on his when he hit a deer.

I've had a GTS250ie come in for service with 81,000 miles on the clock (note: that is MILES not km), and a GTS300 with 78,000 miles on it. All running fine (on fully synthetic motorcycle oil as recommended by Vespa) and with nothing other than normal service items replaced ie: oil, filters, spark plugs, variator, rollers and belts, brake pads etc. the 250 has had a clutch also but that's another consumable so expected. Nothing else. No rust on either inspite of our UK salt on the roads in winter. I also look after a 2 year old GTS300 with 45,000 miles on the clock. He goes some and just loves the bike. Uses it instead of a car for work and leisure. He keeps the bike in immaculate condition. The moral of this is just ride and enjoy, but don't skimp on the maintenance and it'll be fine.

Rocket is now over 71,000 miles.
It has never been babied. It is a GT, so different than the fuel pump busting, wiring harness burning GTS's out there, but quite an accomplishment regardless.. ![]() |

I had a hammer that lasted for 25 years. All it had was three new heads and four new handles.
With regular maintenance I can see no reason why a scooter should not last until it is (a) stolen, or (b) totaled.

24,800MI on my P200. Keep the frame from rusting and as long as you keep replacing parts and not wreck it, the life expectancy is endless.

Just rolled over 17,000 miles. My father put 99% of those on it, his last big trip before handing it over to me being NYC <> Colorado!

All are great news. I bought my 2007 GTS250 in Feb. after replacing the fired wiring harness and voltage regulator, plus all service items, it has run perfectly.
It has about 8300 miles. It was treated badly by the previous owner with several spills. The handle bars are slightly turned due to a spill no doubt. But it runs great. The fried harness was due to the installation of the wrong battery and not fastening it, hence a short. Wouldn't be surprised if the voltage regulator failure was caused by the short and meltdown. But anyway, it's good to know I'll have tons of miles to go on this scooter. |
