Ok, you're right: that is too long; Joan says she starts making it as early as late August, but we don't really get peppers coming in until then.
Then she begins this massive, prairie-girl ritual of bringing home pallets of tomatoes and peppers to clean and freeze for the winter. ...have I told y'all yet that I have a personal gourmet chef?
